Is it worth reporting a badly driven car?
Discussion
I keep seeing the same car on my way home, and every time without fail it is bullying people out the outside lane, cutting in the inside to gain a place then moving back out again. Also going way faster than the speed limit. The thing that really bugs me is the "baby on board" sign in the back window!
Is there any point trying to remember the reg and report it?

These kind of people I prefer to be behind me, because when the inevitable accident happens you will at least have a good chance of not getting a claim against you. Also you'll not get some other berk plough into the back of you when you're already stuck in traffic or the back of this berk.VictoriaYorks said:

Yesterday Humberside Police were asking via Twitter for any info on a white Kia with regard to driving standards. Is there any point trying to remember the reg and report it?
So I'd say yes, report the car. They might not be doing anything they think is wrong so a word from plod might make them a better/safer driver.
On the other hand, if they do read this and take umbrage; do you really want a person this aggressive to be part of the rest of your life?
If you can hand on heart say that he/she is a danger to other people then go ahead, but if they are just impatient and bad mannered on the road, is it really worth going to that much effort?

I have HD clarity dashcam footage of a moron who overtook a line of stationary cars at temporary roadworks, believe it or not, because they were at RED and drove straight on. The traffic coming the other way approached and he refused to budge. I was at the front and left room for him to reverse into the gap. He wouldn't. He simply stopped where he was and the oncoming traffic had to weave into the only vacant space at the roadside to manoeuver around him. Soon as the traffic stopped coming he was on his way again except that the lights had gone through another sequence (due to his hold up) and the same thing started further up the road all over again.
I sent a CD to west Yorks police with a covering letter on the 3rd of October.
They still have not looked at it or done anything so not sure it is worth your while Victoria based on my experience but you never know.

Shortly after posting my reply, the police came to look at the recording. Too late for an NIP they say (it took them 4 weeks to read the letter and they 'lost' the CD). They don't want to report him for Wanton and Furious Driving (contrary to the CPS guidance). As he is a known drug dealer/user, they are going to put a marker on the PNC database so that patrols will know what to expect.
So, in answer to the original question, probably a waste of your time and effort. Well in West Yorkshire anyway.
