I'm not going to post any further detail's of my car here but I just wondered If one of the Mercedes beard's could offer some advise as what to price a W124 at before offering It for sale, I don't really want to but the other half hate's It and the poor thing's just sat at home gathering dust.

From regularly browsing the barge thread's I've got a rough Idea who will chip In but if you would like to offer guidance I'll Pm each of you with detail's.

Thanks In advance.

No details of body style, condition, engine, history, mileage or anything useful, so it's impossible to guess. So I'll say somewhere between £250 and £20,000.

On the plus side - we now know it is for sale and make approaches direct to the buyer....

But.... if the buyer isn't prepared to stump up for an advert on this site.... how do we have confidence that all the proper servicing, bills and maintenance have been taken care of?

To the OP - It is a double edge sword here.
However - A look at Autotrader, PH classifeds etc etc - will let you see what similar cars to yours sold for. ( or are advertised at )

Right now - it is a crap shoot.

I can totally understand where both of you are coming from but this really was about picking people's brains who share the same Interest In car's as me rather than a "look over here my car is for sale" thread.

It's not up for sale at the moment I just wasn't sure what to price It up at when It is.

The main reason Is because It's been previously damaged though I've bought It In It's damaged state and had It repaired at my own expense.

The Insurance payout valuation was a reasonable amount but I'm unsure what percentage It will have dropped by now being a accident recorded car.

There are many of us on here who share your interest in W124s. But until you tell us something about the car, we can't help you.

This thread makes no sense...

So... now it is accident damaged... so much less than the previous range quoted.

Seriously - if you want help - post up every single facet of the car. Good, bad, warts and all.
Just be totally honest with what you have.

Otherwise it is all speculation. I'd say £78,000 ( you would be pleased at that - but you won't get it )

I did not add any detail's of the car as I did not want to circumvent any rules about trying to sell your own car via the forum's.

But fair play It was my stupid fault to add I'll be selling It at some point.

Forget the for sale part as I'll only use this thread as evidence to the mrs that the car's totally worthless and keep It anyway! smile

It's a 1989 300TE-24 In smoke silver with brazil leather (seven seater) covered approx 89,000 miles.

Very good bodywork with straight panel's and pretty much rust free.

Good spec Including - Climate control , orthopaedic electric memory front seats, e/sunroof, cruise control plus more.

Now cat C due to front driver's corner damage Including front wing, headlight, front bumper scuffed, Inner wing damaged near headlight area.

All repaired at a bodyshop to a good standard.

Gosh.. without a photo... I'd say something between £550 and £1500... Mileage is in its favour and some people love that shape....
You could try selling it through the various Merc enthusiast sites.... or try Car and Classic. There is a 4 matic version on car and classic for £3450... but it is very rare.. Or why don't you tidy it up and use it... it is kind of cool.

Thank's Andrew, Like I said I think I'll be keeping It I was just Interested what It's current value could be.

I agree It's a very cool car and Is unusual to see many around In It's condition.

Being a 89 pre-cat model I gather It's approx 200-230bhp and can keep up with more modern machinery quite well even though It's an old barge.

The right bodyshape, engine, leather, seats and low miles suggest good value for a w124 to me. Has the car had any suspension work done, if so what? Have the front wings been replaced (they all need this doing).

That's a huge spec for a W124 - ortho seats, elec seats, climate control (rather than aircon) and airbag must have added £4k to the price of the car when it was new.

Do yourself a favour and get the speedo fixed and give it a really good clean and polish - make it look loved. 89k is hardly run in for a W124 though that steering wheel looks a bit shiny...

Yep the speedo Is something on the to do list!

Would It be as straight forward as a speedo cable change or something more involved like a cluster repair/replacement?

As you can Imagine I'd really like to keep It all original If I can.

Despite the spec, the fact it is now a cat C will always have a bearing on the price.

£1200-1500 would be realistic, but if it is properly cleaned and the small problems sorted, you could get a little bit more.

I'm actually looking for a high spec, good colour 320TE, i've a full AMG bodykit waiting to be fitted to one!

Does that Include the rear bumper as that's different to the saloon's I think?

If you struggle to get a good TE for yourself I may be Interested In the bodykit myself. smile

Very nice indeed... love it... Get it super spank cleaned with a proper valet and just use it..
Please don't add the body kit...
I really like the brazil leather/carpet.. I'm considering this interior colour on my next Range Rover..
