Hey folks, has anyone had any experience with one of these?
http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatalog/CoverCon...

I have a full car cover, but it's a real PITA when using the car regularly.
I am just looking for something to protect the hood short term when using the car away, without having to pull a full car cover off, store it in the boot wet etc etc.
For the worst weather, (most of the time), the car will be under full cover. This will be purely for late returns home etc, so looking for something quick and convenient to put on and off.

Thanks

Phil

Pal of mine had one for is Chimaera before he sold it. Chuffed with it IIRC - and his (only) car lived outside.

Had mine for years. Great bit of kit. You can even open the windows a bit to let the interior breathe. Everything under the cover will be bone dry. thumbup

I would also look at the Leven equivalent. It is heavier and would be my choice having also had a Hamilton Classics cover. No problem with the Hamilton one, I just think the Leven on is better. It does cost a bit more though!

Might also be worth a look at Cover Systems, bought mine second hand three years ago and still going strong smile

I think that Hamilton offer a discount for TVRCC members. You have to phone them up to ask about it as the website doesn't mention it.

Thanks guys, I have the Hamilton one on order, and will update how I get on with it. Should be far easier to get on with that the full cover, that runs the risk of paint blisters etc, and filling the conservatory with water each time I take it off after a showereeklaugh

I bought one of these earlier this year for touring (too much of a PITA with my full cover) and to protect the hood and interior in the sun.

My only negative comment is that the cover is a bit tight over the wing mirrors, other than that it's a great bit of kit.

I bought a Leven half cover off another Chim owner. It's really heavy, but easy to put on if you are an average bloke (I am 61 and 5ft 11).
Flaps front and rear that you can shut in the boot and bonnet, catches that go round the wing mirrors, stops leaks around the screen washers.

It has not let a drop into a previously very damp car, easy to whip on and off, never the slightest risk of it blowing off or damaging the car.

I have abandoned my previous full cover. For a car like mine that lives out of doors, this is the right it of kit.

Good to hear.I thought about the Leven one, but thought the hood/boot thing would be a bit of a pain. Clearly wrong though laugh
Hoping I get on with the Hamilton one. The full cover is a royal PITA if still wet. When dry its a piece of cake and provides great protection. Not good for the conservatory floor though, these hold a hell of a lot of water, even after shaking it outsmile

I bought this >>

Cheap and cheerful, it survived some bad weather this Spring when I had my garage extended and my Griff had to live outside. Car was bone dry.

While we're on the subject ..........Does anyone have an indoor full cover for sale? I rarely put the roof back on so its only to keep the dust out. smile

I tend not to bother to tuck those in unless a storm force 10 wind is forecast, as it simply stays put in all normal weather with the bonnet and boot flaps lying on top.

+1 for the Leven cover.
I bought it second hand and have used it for 10 years when the weather is bad and parked outside or when the roof waterproof treatment starts to fail.
It is very tough and heavy so won't flap about in the wind and scratch your paintwork. It's so thick actually that when it gets stiffer in the winter it retains the shape of the hood when you remove it (that sounds dodgy somehow !)
Plus it secures under the bonnet and boot for extra security.
Very good.
