The drivers door on my 350i has a lot of up and down play in the hinge. Removing the door a couple of days ago revealed the nylon bushes to be worn and no amount of adjustment can stop the door sagging. I have lived with it for a couple of years now , but it has now damaged the striker plate.
Does anyone know if these bushes are available or had them made before?

Any help would be appreciated as I have a TVR without a drivers door.

They're very simple parts, anyone with access to some nylon rod and a lathe could knock them out in no time.

It would be good if someone could make some...Are there any measurements to be had...Like diameter of the nylon rod and length required of the bush/Bushes?...Hole diameter?....

I can do that. I'd be happy to make some for some beer tokens. Think I paid £25 for a pair a while back. The diameters will need to be measured quite carefully as wobbly doors is not cool.

Feel free to email me through PH.

A recent project:

a pair of damper shuttles (a la Eddie Dow for those interested) for a 1960s BSA motorcycle.

You could extrapolate from the tube and rod dims to a point but the wall thickness of the tube would determine the OD of the bush.
IIRC from my Tasmin the rod is half-inch, the tube is 1" OD and will likely have a 3/16" or 1/8" wall... but on other cars it could be something completely different wink
Thickness of the top hat easy enough to determine and length inside the tube not critical as long as it's 'enough'... smile

Funnily enough my car could do with new bushes as well, but there are other priorities.

If you can make a few for beer tokens that would be fantastic, dimensions are as follows.

The long bolt which goes through the middle of the bush measures just under 13 mm, so I have assumed the diameter of E should be slightly bigger to allow to door to move freely.

That sounds like a half inch bolt then. Guessing at 13mm is probably too much play. To allow free movement add copper grease or some such lubricant. Since they wear I'd tend not too add too much.

I don't know if it's any use but there are ones for the chimaera available, you'd think they're the same or similar??

I'd agree with the ahaft being half-inch (12.7mm).

Copper grease acts as a nice lapping agent and shouldn't be used as a lubricant in the traditional sense... also nylon swells when exposed to petrochemical-based lubes which can have undesired effects (modern motorcycles have nylon-lined throttle cables, greasing them as the old-timers did causes the throttle to jam!), but one of nylon's properties is that it has a low coefficient of friction and is often claimed to be self-lubricating; erring on the safe side my preference is to use s smear of silicon grease as it's inert.

I totally agree it is a 1/2 inch shaft, what size should the hole be, bearing in mine you have a grease nipple halve way up the hinge to pump grease into?

chimaera bushes are way smaller, as I found to my cost when I brought 2 earlier this week!

Shaft diameter + a couple of thou" would make for a 'light sliding fit'... so 0.504" or 12.8mm.
I know there's a grease nipple, it doesn't mean TVR knew that grease and nylon don't mix wink

Everyday's a school day. Cheers.

just a random one.......has anyone called a nylon bush manufacturer / supplier?

Pinged one I found off google, shared the picture above with the dimensions.........cost = £120 for 1000 units

If folk can agree on the exact dimension could we all not buy a batch.......clearly we don't need 1000 but split a few ways its quite cheap?

Just a thought

and this is the closest I can find from other sources

this place does smaller batches (100 vs 1000)

Would it work?
