For a while when i started my 3000S sometimes the Rev counter needed a few seconds to kick in and work, strange.
Yesterday i started my 3000S and NO Rev counter, NO Volt meter, NO Temp guage, NO Fuel gauge and i think NO front sidelights.
Is my car suffering from problems with the dreaded Bulkhead connecter yikes which needs attention.
Just a small detail where is it hidding or perhaps could it be fuses. I have my suspicions because when i bought the car the Ashtray was full of lots of new Fusescool I sure it must be a coincidence.
I will see if someone comes up with sugestions

Alan,

I have emailed you a (very poor) copy of the wiring diagram... looks like a fuse to me and the same one is connected to some lamps and other stuff. My copy is so poor I cannot read what however... frown

Of course the fuses are there for a reason, not just to fill up an ashtray smile so some more investigation.....

Does anyone out there have access to a decent electronic copy of the late M series wiring diagram that they could share?

Dave

Hi Alan

As for the rev-counter having to 'think' about it; they all do that, sir ! (well, most of them do.....)

For the diagrams, there is 'oldgeebee' on here, whom has reworked diagrams on file, he is the TVRCC Devon RO, and apart from a nice chap also an electric engineer.............I'm sure he is willing to share !

Could it perhaps be a ground issue (wire leaves in front of gear-shift (under the tunnel-padding) ?

regards

Frank

Steady on Frank - comments like that can go to a man's head!

I have a set of wiring diagrams that I drew up when taking apart the wiring on my 1979 3000S chassis number 4712FM. I've put these in a PDF file and if anyone needs a copy send me a PM. As a taster, here's sheet 1 as a PNG to show you the style I've used.

The wiring diagram from the M-series handbook "from chassis 3668" contains some errors so needs to be treated with caution but here's my scanned copy (it's been posted and re-posted on several electric threads already!) for those that don't want to wait for the full 8 sheets in the PDF to arrive . . .

Hi there,

I have a 1978 3000s and have had a few issues with the elects. I am looking at just getting the car rewired. I would appreciate if you could send me any information that would assist me in carrying out this job.

thanks
