Just had my letter. Seeing as mine is a 2006 car, perhaps they did the letters in order of manufacture date? smile

The first wave of recalls will be for cars that were known to have been produced at the exact same time as cars that have suffered confirmed failures/faults.

The next wave will be for cars closest to the production period, and so on and so on.

A lot of the recalls for later cars will simply be a "belts and braces" effort to cover cars that would probably never have the issue, but BMW are making sure they're covered, just in case.

scrap that - i had my letter today. although there's no parts available so a wait until mid january.......
I got the notice through a few days back. I will apparently be informed when parts are available.

It'll be interesting to head over to the local BMW dealer and see what they're like. All the work I have done is handled by the local independents.

I also got my letter yesterday.
Funny thing is a mate had to take his 51 plate Toyota in the other week for an airbag recall.

Should I be expecting one for my 1998 E46?

Seems strange!
You can check your VIN here,

I checked mine against this website and decided I wasn't affected but got a letter yesterday.

Either I am a spaz or more are affected than on the website...

The website implies its basically every E46 ever sold in the UK... and you have an E46 so not surprising you received a letter?

Thank you for the heads up. Our 2002 330 is affected. Now booked in for end of Jan. We never received anything from the DVLA
Cheers.

Had my letter today too, but got the work done about 12 days ago....!! No harm in calling the local dealership to see when they can fit you in smile

(and yes, they washed it, topped up the washer fluid, and diagnosed two faults for me at no charge!)

Same airbag supplier iirc, which is what has kicked off this recall.

Must admit I'm quite impressed BMW have bothered with this recall on 10+ year old cars, I suspect many manufacturers may not have bothered. Pretty sure this has only come to light since the issues in the US, hence why they haven't mentioned it until now - as they didn't know it was an issue.

So just had my airbag done, asked them to switch off my airbag light
because I had a problem with the seat occupancy sensor, and apparently they say bmw no longer turn of airbag lights! Anybody heard anything like this?
