So finally settling in, and got speaking with a fellow (invisible to most!) PH'er last night, and we are thinking about going halves on a track bike. In fact to be more accurate, we have 3 people interested in a share, and would like to get that to 4 people, across 2 bikes.

IanUAE - I remember you had a couple of bikes going for sale towards the end of the Summer, but I am guessing these have gone now? Looking for a Triumph 675, GSXR 600/750, R6, ZX6, or even (if we had to!) CBR600.

Ideally budget would not exceed AED 50k for the 2 x bikes.

So two questions:-

1) Does anyone know of any good track bikes to purchase?
2) Would anyone on here be interested in being the 4th "partner" in this purchase?

Ian - please bookmark this thread, as sure there are going to be a few questions posted your way. smile

Thanks

Your best bet is to contact either Ludo at Skull Cycles http://www.skullcyclesdxb.com/ or Aldrin at ProBikes (behind Times Square).

Our next race day is 5th/6th December so pop down and say hello to our CBR600 biggrin

Hiya Ian,

Chris says thanks for the post, and he'd be ever so grateful if you could keep your your ears open with regards to good bikes up for sale!!

Re the track, is every Friday afternoon a bike track "day"? Whats the scrutineering like, same as the UK? Can you just turn up and play within formatted sessions, like the UK?

Many thanks (for Chris!)

Best to check on the www.dubaiautodrome.com web site for details of track days (they normally get the details right...).

For a track day you need to your valid road licence (never had to show mine though, which is a good job as I don't have a UAE bike licence), one or two piece leathers and boots, gloves, helmet in good condition. As to the condition of your bike they used to inspect the bikes before they were permitted to out on track, not seen them inspected bikes for quite a few track days now...........

On the GP circuit (this Friday) novices and 1st timers are not allowed, again check with the autodrome web site to be safe.

We "should" be at the circuit testing this Friday but Mahmoud and I have a lot of grovelling / pleading to do with our respective wives first (dog house doesn't come close!).

Guys bit of a long shot I'm sure but looking to visit for 3/4 days towards the end of January on way back to Aus from UK and wondered what chances would be of sneaking in a track day on a bike? Do any of the track day organisers hire out bikes? Or if there are any track days avaiable between 22nd - 25th Jan?

Ian - Thanks for the response (and also for the link to the R6).

Have been out of country for all but 2 days of the last 2 weeks. Will take a look at what you have posted above.
