Golf R Insurance
Discussion
Hello all, I am trying to understand why my 23 year old mates quote on a brand new Golf R with business insurance, coverage of 10k miles a year and he has 5 years no claims bonus is only £800 for the year. It's worth over £30k and as you know the performance is fantastic. Could someone shed some light.....
If this thread pushes them up there shall be trouble. Golf R owners are of a thoughtful disposition and appreciate the finer nuances of driving much like classical music. We are more likely to have problems parking outside the local blood bank where we always trying to donate and also the charities for homeless puppies. The Golf R is a vote for vote for equal minded sensibilities, many thanks Ranald
Quote I've had was only 200 quid for the year. Less than a third the cost of my old RS focus & oddly half of the outgoing BMW 318i premium. Even more bizarrely it's less than my family kiddie carrier car ford s-max.
Hopefully not many get totalled between now and march when I get mine.

That price sounds about right to me. 5 years NCB is a decent effort at that age.
At 24 I had an S3 8P worth about the same I guess but I'd had an at fault claim a year earlier so only had 2 years NCB and it was about £1400. At 25 I bought an RS5 and my premium dropped below a grand even though I was still having to declare the accident only had an extra years NCB and an extra 180bhp with which to kill myself, the insurance industry is bizarre.
Thankfully my insurance is below £500 quid now at 28
