Ensure there are no stones or gravel trapped between the body shell sills and the outriggers.
If present these can jam & prevent the body separating from the chassis. A thin scraper blade can easily remove them.
Also are you absolutely certain you have removed all the body/chassis attachment bolts?
I believe there are two under the carpet near the seat belt reels which can be overlooked, and also on some S's there are two under the centre console.
Have you removed the two bolts that go through the boot floor?

Good Luck,

Glen

Magpies, the hose clips are off but I couldn't get the hose off, not without risk of a hernia. I was hoping jacking the rear up by 10mm would put a little extra tension on it and help me to pull it off, I'll persevere before another attempt but cant see that one hose being enough to lift the chassis when jacking from the floor pan? I am only planning on a partial lift at this stage.

Thanks Glen, I counted 16 bolts, two in the boot, two lower belt mounting, two in the seat belt reels, two on either side of central exhaust mount, two in the seat belt buckle/latch/stalk/receptical whatever it is with the red button, two under centre console (both of these were only finger tight), four in footwells, plus the steering rack and the handbrake. I have ran a scraper down both sides, they were full of stones and sticky gunk which I assume is waxoyl. It was quite sticky, can I spray anything on that to dissolve it?

Just seems strange that the front lifted slightly with no effort but the rear wouldn't budge.

White spirit should do the trick.

Body is probably just "stuck", sealant where tank neck comes through?

I would look at dropping the tank and cradle first, this could make life a bit easier for you, presume it's coming off anyway at some stage?

with the body down on the chassis you could try levering the off-side rear up to see if that is free and proving the near-side rear is the sticking point

Put a straight cut slot in a throttle plate earlier. Boredom / long winter nights.
This one is spoken for but if anyone wants one doing, postage and a beer will cover it.

Hi Alan, excuse my ignorance but what does this actually do?

I've not been in the garage this week, dropped my trailing arms and wishbones off with Adrian this morning for a bit of TLC.

Today I've officially finished Christmas stuff so tomorrow I plan to get back on the case of getting the body lifted.

Thanks for the advice Mike, I'll look at dropping tank first, now wishing it wasn't 3/4 full...

Operates the throttle butterflys and sensors,
with a straight cut slot it they will react more quickly (initially) to pedal movement

Yes,would be easier if nearly empty!

The slot in the throttle plate is usually curved, see "fire2footwell" picture in this thread, making it straight gives a "snappier" throttle response wink

Wooohoooo beer

Turns out I had an additional pair of bolts. They cannot be seen from underneath the car anywhere, they fix the body to the horizontal part of the mountings which hold the seat belt reels. No chance of getting a spanner in and they were rusted solid, had to cut them off.

Lifted nicely with those removed. Got it up an inch or so and decided I'd had enough for today and beer was in order. Next I'll be checking there's enough play in everything and going for some more height.

Outriggers don't look too bad.

Alan, can you do mine whilst it's off?

easy(ish) mod in hindsight I would have done things slightly different - Alan Whitaker is fitting the same mirrors and will be doing a 'propper job'

for my 'simplified' version:

The base of the Fiesta mk8 mirrors have several protrusions as well as the main securing stud, I would remove these thus only have one hole to drill. This stud is at an angle so the inside of the door should be built up with fibre glass and then cut back to give the nut a flat landing to secure on. Now sit in the seat and have someone hold the mirror and move it to give the correct rearwards view. With the mirror being held then add a couple of techscrews through the door into the mirror base.

Note: on mine the drivers mirror is brill but the passenger one cannot be moved to give the ideal rear view - that is why the above is with hindsight - doh
Mine have had the motor cables removed leaving only the indicator repeater (now led)

That's great; many thanks. With hindsight, what would you have done differently?
