Hopefully it will be a keeper, at least thats the plan. As I went round the factory watching every stage of build I gathered a lot of info on the differences between a US car and an export (mines a US car as I can't drive an export while i live in the US). The builders were extremely helpful explaining the differences and even giving me bits of paper with the part numbers I need to change!

It looks like the quality control hold is now up and the first museum delivery are being scheduled for Monday 8 December. Hopefully mine might sneak in that week if I'm lucky too...all I need to do now is pay for it frown

Why you are 'waiting' Mark why not 'blag' a few test rides in things like a 2015 Shelby Mustang and Challenger Hellcat just to while away the time and see what you're really NOT missing!

Well my current car is a 2013 Shelby GT500 so I've done the muscle car that doesn't like corners wink

Despite at one time being an 'old' Mustang owner ('71 429 SCJ) current offerings just don't do it for me. Kinda thought that the Challenger was just a too big and clunky option - have to say that the Hellcat looks like one 'hell' of an exciting buy!

I know it's a dirty word but once back in the UK what will be the total cost of purchase, transporting and UK Tax ?

I will have owned it for over 6 months so there is no tax. Transport is around £2k with insurance. Not sure how much I will need to get done for IVA on arrival. Car cost $102k, so all in it's going to be around the £60k mark or so. It really is a performance bargain for sure.

Interesting and a bargain for sure !
To own it for 6 months do you need to be a US resident or living there ?
Or can you buy it - store it for 6 months and then import it ?

( you can hear my mind ticking if you listen carefully ! )

I'm not an expert but here from the DVLA website;

If you’re moving to the UK

You don’t pay VAT or duty on a vehicle imported from outside the EU if you qualify for transfer of residence relief. To qualify you must meet all of these conditions:

you’re moving your normal home to the UK
your normal home was outside the EU for a continuous period of at least 12 months
you’ve owned and used the vehicle for at least 6 months outside the EU
you didn’t get the vehicle under a duty-free or tax-free scheme
you’re going to keep the vehicle for your personal use for at least 12 months
To get the tax relief, fill in form form C104A and give it to customs when you enter the country.

Thank for the info smile
No brainer if you're working out there to do it. Must save £25-30k?

I'm sure there will be a huge queue of would be buyers in about 14months time wink

I was sat in a new Z06 and the z28 today. The Z06 is a very special car indeed. I was creaming over the detailing and the lathering of suede. The carbon ceramic brakes are huge.

Hows it going out there Mark? - can only presume that you are enjoying yourself much with the car that you haven't had time to post-up yet!
