Well I met the assessor yesterday and fortunately, he was keen to help me resolve things. As a result, I am presently sourcing parts and my car is booked to go on a jig in a week or so. I just beed to secure new panels first. As both ends are being repaired and matching paint could be tricky, it'll be getting a full repaint too. I'm just relieved that it'll be back as it should be.

Good news on it being saved - the high value has worked in its favour at least

Well the good news is that after umpteen phone calls and emails, I've managed to find all the parts needed to repair my car. It wasn't easy though and a new rear panel from the USA was the luckiest find. A couple of days on the jig, while the boot floor and rear quarter were made good, before the new panel was let in. Hopefully the prep for paint starts next week.

My local dealer came through with all new grills, badges and front panel. The prices stung a little once totalled up, but individually they weren't too spiteful. The kidney grill was only £45 despite someone on eBay asking £119!

I've decided to change the wheels and the seats are also off to be trimmed. It should look pretty special once finished.

I've been driving a 2013 M3 whilst mine is away and although the engine and performance are simply awesome, I'd much rather have my old E30.

Boxes of bits have been turning up.

I've opted to change the wheels too. I bought these used but despite the sellers assurances the fronts need new barrels to reduce the width to 8J. Since finding this out the seller has avoided all contact. Our paths will cross soon enough though.

The H&R suspension is being upgraded to KW3.

I have lots of bits and bobs in the garage left over from my restoration, drop me a PM if you are short of anything.

Can you PM me the wheel sellers details?

There's a used set on eBay but they need altering to fit, which isn't cheap.

Pleased you're heading in the right direction, I think the car will look cracking on those rims, probably my all time favourite style for an M3.
I had a look at the wheel site, I wonder what ballpark figure a set would cost new for an M3, I probably shouldn't ask!

New they're £2300 for the set. I had a message yesterday about a set, including decent tyres, for £2k though if anyone is interested?

There are a few other bits I'd like to replace on my car, including the door rubbers. They're pretty expensive though. I managed to get a set of NOS star-tec rear lights from Germany. I know they're not to everyone's tastes but I think they work well with the red.

One small part I'm struggling to find though, is the right side plastic mount for the rear bumper. If anyone has a spare they'd part with I'd be extremely grateful to hear from them.

The part the bumper slides on to?

I'll have a look tomorrow.

Thanks for that, I thought they would be around that figure, I will secure a set one day for my old jalopy but they will have to wait for now, circumstances are such that I'm all about nappies and jumperoo's at the moment!

I was never a big fan of those Star-tec's, a pal was hankering after a set for months on end, I didnt realise they were so sought after and hard to come by, he never did manage to find a set.

Cant help with the side mount, have you tried the usual suspects? I have found Geoff Steel normally has a fair amount of stuff lying about in the past.
