Got my white/ brown 3000M back this weekend via local fibreglass expert via insurance co he made a fantastic job of body & and re paint after me losing out in a collision with a brown UPS delivery truck in September...even made the said brown band all round look better with a slight burgundy hue. But like all bodywork upgrades it draws attention to the least appealing cosmetics...in this case the matching vinyl roof. Despite asking around it seems vinyl rood repairers/ trimmers are about as rare as snickers bars these days,or have I got them & marathon chocolate mixed up ?

Am even thinking of getting vinyl roof removed & then painted white...but not sure how feasible this would be has anyone done this & is such removal resultant in a paintable surface so to speak or is much more work needed? Alternatively has anyone had any vinyl roof repair or replacement job done in the midlands?. It was a nightmare to put in the also required new windscreen, with separate fitter chap losing his rag it seemed with rubber seal/ chrome lock not functioning or fitting properly. He ended up putting old one back in with new chrome trim so would rather not entertain any roof job that necessitated removal of rear or front screens ! Any advice appreciated guys

my 1600M originaly had a vinyl roof but now is painted same as body. The prevoius owner removed it and there are no faults that i can see. So i imagine it's not too difficult.
Maybe you could remove it and get it painted the same colour as the Brown band

Have a friend who has just had his done. I will ask him and post back.

The roof under the OE Vinyl is not prepared or painted in any way,so it will need a full refinish (if I am honest) I never seen a car that has been done that has not shown sink holes where the alloy trims had previously been (it is all in the refinishing).

you are right Adrian,
on mine you can see the sink holes a little. Whoever did the job should have Feathered the grp around the holes and used grp chopped strand and finished with grp tissue, with no p40/p38/davids or filler.
Been there done it and i hope have learnt from mistakes in the past laugh

Thanks guys i had a hunch grp under the roof would not be the right texture so to speak & would really rather get it repaired or recovered. Spikep if you could let me know where yr mate got done/approx cost that would be much appreciated.

(nb.Would put picture up but even thumb sized ones seem to be too big electronically to copy in)

maybe a Classic Ford Capri or Cortina club can help as they had the same roof finish
