After a lot of searching I can't find anywhere telling me what points to lift the Chim with a 2 post ramp. I have the use of one tonight so I can give the car a good look over and take some pictures of any issues.
I found one picture showing an arm placed on the corner of the outrigger, is this the best place for them or can someone tell me or better yet show me where to put them ?

Thanks
Colin

Corner of outriggers is the perfect place.

I've seen a few pictures of cars on here over the years, where the last place I would want to lift them would be the outriggers. The pictures above make my sphincter clench. eek

Only if the outriggers are rotten.

Having been in many a workshop every TVR that I have seen has been lifted in that way.

Obviously if the outriggers have severe rot..............

I know and I have seen mine lifted that way too, but still makes me cringe when I see it.

So many people have been unaware of the state of their outriggers on the upper side and what looks solid underneath has very often been crumbly on top.

Nice looking Chim btw and would love a two post lift like that.

I am not sure there is anywhere else to lift them, unless you use the body

If you drive the car up on blocks, you could lift direct on the chassis rails.

You'd need really big feet on the ends of the legs if you were to pick it up from the chassis rails or the legs will hit the body before the feet do, which means you'll need the car a foot in the air to put the legs in place, plus you would need really long legs as these cars don't exactly have 50/50 weight distribution hehe

Corners of chassis rail for me smile

If your outriggers are that rotten deciding where to lift the car is the least of your worries confused a visit to Spec Savers would be my advice wink excessive corrosion to that extent would be obvious just peeping under the car rolleyes placing the 4 ramp pads under the corner triangle plates is the correct place to lift IMO as per Phazed's pics

So today at TVR school I learnt that the way to lift a Chimaera is to jack it up using the main chassis and check out the outriggers. If the outriggers look in good condition then it can be lifted using the corners of the outriggers so a full inspection can take place of the rest of the underside.

Thank you everyone thumbup

The weight distribution is very good at 51%F and 49% rear.

Just had to look it up as I would have never believed that, I know that the engine and box are pretty far back but it is a big old boat anchor and the fuel tank is quite far forward. No idea how that manages to work out, TVR black magic
