Morning

Looking at buying a new watch for around £1,500 as have a graduate job and no longer have a contract phone so thought may as well stick £50 a month towards something else.

Coming up with following options wondered if people had anything else to suggest? Will have to be new unfortunately as will probably 0% APR it as just spent £7k on a new daily and would prefer not to dip into my savings anymore...

Or something cheaper

Not sure anything I am missing? Like something fairly chunky as I am 6 foot 3 and quite a wide frame so smaller watches tend to look a bit small on my wrists...

My friend has a Colt Chrono that he received on his 21st Birthday, 8 years on and it still looks brilliant.

Edit - an hour in to your search and the budget has increased by 20%, it's always dangerous looking at new watches smile

Yeah really like the style of it asked for a quote as if the APR is a st rate I will probably be better off just buying one new at £2,200...

Already going over budget here!

After an hour you're 20% over budget, give it two and it'll be 45% hehe

Yes have a habit of this with most things...

It will be my first big purchase watch wise though most I have spent previously is in the £300 - £500 range on a Steinhart Ocean 1 and then a Raymond Weil 8300 so want to get it right!

At this budget Oris and Longines are a good bet if you want Swiss, Sinn and Damasko are good, if German is an option.

At that budget I'd only be considering automatics.

Yes just noticed the Brietling is only a quartz not sure how I feel with regards to whether I need it to be automatic or not.

This watch looks lovely for under £1k but appears to have a different box which puts me off a bit

well all those watches will loose you about £20 per month in the first year, but presumably your rich enough not to have to worry about loosing 40% of your investment in the first 12 months. If your not rich enough then perhaps a 3 to 5 YO Zenith might be a better investment and is certainly a huge improvement in the 3 watches you have chosen

was going to suggest a 2nd hand omega of some sort that should really lose any value either.

A friend sold his Omega PO for around £1500 earlier this month. It's a really nice watch and I was tempted but I already struggle to choose between two divers in the morning, let alone throwing a third into the mix!

I have been looking and the majority do seem to sink quite heavily...

Would something like this be a better option?

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Omega/Seamaster%20300...

I still get drawn to the Breitling Colt 44 but with the APR may as well buy one new at £2,200 at 0%

Suppose in 3 years time could probably flog it for around £12/300 if I got bored?

Not too fused about loosing a bit of money its all relative to me I blew about £120 on a night out at the weekend...

Omega Planet Ocean would be a dream watch for me in the 45.5mm with the orange bezel however they appear to be around £2.5k which is too much for me even with man maths...

Considering they are £2500 on here:

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Omega/Planet%20Ocean/...

I would think £1500 was a bit cheap even on a private sale.

Are you sure they're that price 2nd hand? My mate is monumentally tight with money and it's the first "decent" watch he owned, so I highly doubt he would have let it go for below market value.

£1500 seems incredibly cheap would have snapped his hand off for that to be honest

I'm not really clued up on values, but he really wouldn't let something go cheap. I'll ask him next time I see him, as I know it's a PO and I know he sold it for knocking on around £1500.

A Tudor black bay (blue face) is a lovely watch and surely not much more than your budget....
