Battery has died and wil not hold a charge so looking for a replacement. OEM was Varta but understand new battery is Bosch. Needs to be 110Ah apparently and 520 CCA. Only exact replacement is current OEM at £188 but been offered a Varta I1 for £95.

Has anyone got any experience of the new Varta ones? Or should I bight the bullet and by the Audi one?

Also, understand battery's will immediatelynneed recoding, but also read that if I connect charger to battery under bonnet or connect jump leads to another car whilst removing the battery there will be no read to recode.

Is any or all of the above correct?

Thanks

Check out Euro Car Parts for Bosch batteries - they have longer warranty than a main dealer replacement. If they don't have discounts on at the moment you can usually find a 25% off discount on certain Audi forums (AudiSRS for instance)

Coding basically involves sticking the serial number of a factory replacement battery in so the battery monitor relearns the state of the battery. Any independant with VCDS can do this for you if you don't have your own cable. You can just change 1 digit in the stored serial number and it does the job smile

It's worth taking the old battery out so you can physically measure it to make sure the one you're looking at is correct - our C5 A6 battery was incorrect the first time, but because I didn't take it out before ordering I didn't have measurements to check. On the C5 is buried up under the windscreen and a pain in the arse to get to! I'm assuming the C6 battery is in the boot so reasonably accessible?
