Can anyone recommend a good but affordable body shop? My M5 has rust that I want cutting out and new steel welding in.

Thanks.

Cheers. Genuine question, would it have been cheaper to replace the door?

door pushed in by a nice person at a car park!!!! I didn't take it through insurance, so everyone I went through knew it was a self pay job...... and nope, door replacement was over x3 more....... even if you just replaced the door skin, it would have cost a lot more..... job was perfect.

In that case that's good to hear. Companies often prefer to do what makes them the most money.

Bummer about someone doing that to your car, I've had similar, it rankles a lot!

in the case of one bodyshop, the impression I got was of laziness.... far less hassle and quicker to order and blend in a new door than to panel beat the old one, even if return for the shop less and cost to me more....

I've had the bodywork sorted on my MX5 by JD Autos in St Neots. They were around £200 cheaper than the next best quote and I'm very happy with the work they've done. John and his partner DO get busy tho, so if you need it done quickly, there may be better options.
