Wow don't they rev quick! We dynoed a chipped 64 plate AMG SLK55 today. Not sure what the chip is meant to do on an NA car or if it adds/loses bhp or torque at any point? Factory figures 415 bhp and 385 lbs ft torque. We recorded 356 bhp at wheels in 4th gear ( to keep speed down from mph limiter) and 385 lbsft torque. Bhp at flywheel was 406 with the 50 bhp coast down losses, max torque 420 lbsft.

Hi Peter, not been on here in ages.. too much to catch up. Anyway, when you say chipped, has it been revised from the AMG setup? Be interesting to see the difference. I'm guessing it had fat rubber for those loses?

Hi Martin, I hope you are well?

With the chipping, the customer went to a 'chipping specialist' who downloaded a new map, no dyno no nothing so we are all in the dark! I have always assumed chipping waste of time if not a turbot car where one can increase boost pressure etc etc. I wondered if others on ph had experience of that engine being chipped or dyno figures?

Yes yes to the wide by enormous tyres sapping the power we were also running at around 145 mph in 4th gear....three gears to go at that smile It does seem to be the case the faster the tyres go and the wider the tyres the more the power losses, totally independent from the prime mover supply.
