It's standard (PiperX filter aside) and I have a rolling road printout from AMD saying 240 bhp. What strikes me looking at the graph is the surge of power from about 4200rpm - almost as pronounced as variable valve timing or something. Are they all this way? Not complaining - you can really feel the kick and it makes for a much more characterful engine.

My Ed30 was very different to the standard Mk5 GTI over 4000rpm. The bigger turbo makes a hell of a difference.

Have a look at these graphs from mk5golfgti.co.uk

Yeah that's normal for an Eddy.

Remappers bring the boost in a lot sooner, which really starts to swell around 2700ish, then bam. The standard map is incredibly laid back (i.e. boring) after you've experienced a decent remap.

If you're new to Editions / GTIs, you want to get the mechanical fuel pump's lifter checked / replaced ASAP.

Sorry, I meant to say cam follower, not lifter!

Things to check are the cam follower as said, Check the DV which is at front of engine on K04 car's, You want either a revision "d" or "g" and check the PCV, Latest and best revision is "n" IIRC.

This is a good site for common MK5 stuff - https://changegears.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/revis...

Thanks folks.

OK, previous owner has confirmed the follower has never been replaced and seeing as I'm at 75k miles I think I'll get it done asap (PCV and DV both fine/uprated though).

Can I ask what's a reasonable price to pay a garage:
1) To check the follower
2) To replace it if it proves necessary??

Thanks again.

To be honest if they're going to the effort of checking it then they'd be as well putting a new one in at the same time. They were £18 last time I checked.

To check it you need to take it out anyways.
