Dunlop 24 Hour April 23rd to 26th 2015

The entry list looks to be coming together with some interesting cars turning up in class 1. Hopefully there could be a good 3 way battle between the Motionsport Wolf, a Radical RXC V8 and a Ginetta LMP3.

The Marc Focus V8's in class 2 are usually good value and worth checking out if you've never seen them.

Quite a coup for Britcar if the No 9 Ginetta LMP3 races in the 24hr, not seen any info on that entry elsewhere. NB a few of the cars will be active this weekend at the WEC-Silverstone event though.

I think it makes sense for them as I'm pretty sure that the winners of this years ELMS LMP3 championship will get an automatic entry to Le Mans in 2016 so it's a good opportunity to test it over 24 hours well in advance.

Ginetta factory have history with entering the '24, makes sense for them to showcase the LMP3, hopefully they flog a couple more off the back of it too!

Classes have taken a bit of a change around too, class 4 in 2012 had 14/33 entries with a diverse field of GT86's, Seat's, G40's, an mr2, beemers and civics this is now class 5 where theres only a couple of entries.

I would have thought this class would be better subscribed, that part of clubbie motorsport in the uk is quite healthy.

We are hoping to show that it can be done on a much smaller budget than people think.
Granted, we wont be up the sharp end, or anywhere near the mid-field.
But, all being well, there will be some very happy faces on Sunday afternoon.

Over the years there's been a few minnow crowd favourites, the Merc 500 the first year and more recently the Carvell golf. It looks like it's gonna be a Fiesta this year. Good luck lads. 😊

I need to book our camping today for the 24hr. Is there any reason to pick one site over another?

Whittlebury Park is about double the price of Dadford Road, is it much better?

For this event there probably won't be much difference between the two, in terms of facilities or what's happening on-site. Whittlebury do have brick shower/toilet blocks, don't know about Dadford.

Whittlebury are quite strict on pitch size, though I wouldn't have thought that would be a problem for the 24hr.

I hadn't factored the extra fee from dadford for our 3rd man, so in the end there wan't much in it price-wise, so I've gone for Whittlebury.

Pitch size isn't a problem, I just hope we're fairly close to the circuit, and the 'right' distance from the loos.

Haven't camped at Silverstone ever before, so flying a bit blind, and as I'm the one who prompted this little adventure, I'm on the hook if it's a disaster...

Its about a 15 minute walk to the track over the fields, you will come into the track at Stowe, if I remember correctly.

You will be thanked for the clean showers and the bar, good choice.

I think it may be Copse rather than Stowe

The map below may help you figure out the layout. The yellow bit is the usual camping area for the 24hr race at Whittlebury, the blue circle is the toilets/showers, and the red line the route to the circuit and in at (if memory serves) gate 5 or 6. The walk takes about 15 minutes, is not lit so make sure you have a torch for after dark, and for the 1000km race a couple of years ago the last field you walk through had just be covered in muck by the farmer, so was a bit stinky!

It has never been that busy at the campsite, so no worry about pitch sizes before, but this year its where 1st tickets are as well, so expecting it to be a bit busier there.
