I spoke to the owner, who knew nothing about the history. Further googling shows this car at RSJ, phoned them and they confirmed they sold it to the current owner and he had asked for the wheels to be changed from silver to fully black.

I ment RSJ not rpm., I remember seeing it.

But is it a ex pec car ?

Nice car to make into a track weapon.

Click this link, scroll down to halfway and you'll find a pic of it on silver wheels at Silverstone;

http://motorcloud.net/2011-cayman-r-driving-event/

That, in addition to the pic of it being drifted by 5thGear around a track was enough to put me off, plus the low spec.

Low spec is a PLUS! Thats the whole idea, not load it up with toys! hehe

Mine have adaptive bi-xenon, no aircon, no navi, buckets spyder wheels sports chrono, manual and thats it!

but I know others want more of a cruiser with loads of toys smile

Of course, fully appreciate that that might be the perfect spec for some. When I spoke to the owner he said similar, which is fair enough, it just wasn't for me, although I nearly dropped some of my requirements for a yellow car! smile

Pity the yellow R has no air con. Considered it last time it was for sale but thought better of it without air con .
I bought an R with A/C in the end. As without will effect resale again.
Would have loved a S/ Y C R but its the only one i have ever seen in past for sale.

I really didn't appreciate the difference between the R and my 987.1S - unbelievable machine!

People don't it frustrates me that some people slag them off after a 5 minute test drive.

They are awesome cars, porsche dialled it in very well.

I didn't pick it up after the test drive i'll be honest, yes I thought it was a lovely car, but oh my after a weekend of driving it really is putting a grin right across my face and round the back of my ears this car - so glad I went with this option!

My only gripe - the small fuel tank is draining a wee bit faster than normal now!

Yes people dont believe how good and what an awsome car the C/R really is, i had a Cayman Sport Limited Edition in Viper green and it was a good car but the C/R really is on another level.
I have also owned 2 996 GT3s and i find the R a much better road car . Yes not as fast in a straight line but boy can a C/R corner a much nicer car to drive on the roads.
Its taken me many years money and Porsche models to find one i absolutly love to drive cant see me selling my C/R
Looking a good investment also mines gone up in just 1 year .

Lets face it, it's a speced up S with a tad more power and some minor styling tweaks. If you actually want the spec (20" wheels, PSE, PASM, Chrono, PDLS) then it's a good buy - you get the extra power as a bonus. On the other hand if you either don't want, or are not fussed about some of that spec - you'd be better off specing an S with what you want. In my case I specifically did NOT want 20" wheels, wouldn't pay a penny for PSE, and would much prefer to pay for PTV rather than Chronosport, not fussed about PDLS - and so an S was a much better buy for me. But's that's not to slag the GTS off - just not the sensible choice for me, and won't be for everyone.

A nice car, but no more than that. Put it in perspective please.

CR, CSL - both nice cars, very nice cars. The doubters will doubt, but both cars are sure fire classics for they have depth.

Was looking for a CR or a Spyder. This one came up so I jumped at it. Very excited. But have to wait a couple of weeks for delivery. After ten years of NSX's (also brilliant cars), I'm looking forward to brakes that work!! If there are any CR owners in the SW area let me know.

Cheers.

I was tempted by that, just a bit far away and I really want a bolder colour, but it looks a smashing car! Also good value as its a great spec and from an opc , knew it wouldn't hang about

Lurking and pouncing is definitely the way forward. There are lots of overpriced cars at OPCs and every so often, for reasons that are unclear to me, a dealer will put a car on sale perhaps £5000 less than other cars of a similar spec. I missed one (a low spec 981 S manual with 12k miles) for less than £40k - before I got mine.
