Hi,
I've got a 1995 Jag XXJR 300 (4 litre 6 cylinder supercharged) It's been sat for a couple of weeks (was running perfectly when I left it)and yesterday it started fine but would not rev over 2100 rpm, it would cough and stumble, this is both at rest and in gear. There are no fault lights on the dash. Called the AA, very nice man but his diagnostic didn't do much except show the same voltage at both lambda sensors - no fault codes came up. He's directed me to someone with more sophisticated diagnostic equipment, but I thought I'd try and find out what it might be before I spend the money. I'm a competent mechanic - if I can find out what bit's broke I can replace it myself.
Many thanks
Dave

The trouble is without a proper diagnosis you will be playing "Russian roulette" with components. Maybe worth paying for an hours worth of diagnostic time before doing anything else.

My old one did a slight pop/miss/backfire once and run like a dog after.
There is a large diameter(5"or so)convoluted rubber pipe,it`s been a few years but I think it fits between the air-box and throttle, regardless its practically unmissable and it had popped out from hose clip at the bottom, aided by the oil that was laying in the bottom of it no doubtsmileand the back fire.
it was perfect after re-fitting.
It might be worth a try, mine was only a small hiccup type miss.
