Lewis and Nico aren't even in the same country, let alone ballpark as Senna and Prost. How dare you make the comparison
He's getting there, if Lewis wins tomorrow he will be 8 wins and 1 championship off Senna, with 7 years in F1 against Senna's 10. In that time he will have raced against a grid with 6 world champions and beaten 2 of them in the same car. So not quite there yet, and maybe never will be (and I know, I know - you can prove anything with statistics ) , but knocking on the door of the ballpark surely?Lewis and Nico aren't even in the same country, let alone ballpark as Senna and Prost. rosberg will brake erratically/early into T1 to try to force a panic brake from lewis that gets him rear ended by a following car. Lewis will dodge it and sail past, only for rosberg to lose his rag and shunt lewis, forgetting that the double DNF makes lewis champ. He then complains to the fia that lewis caused an accident and should be disqualified from the championship. Lauda then pulls down rosbergs race suit, puts him over his knee and publically spanks him, he cries. max mosely voices his approval.
Nice one, hb

Hey careful there, you're arguing against a pair of rose-tinted glasses! At the beginning of the season I didn't have a preference to who won WDC (other than JB but that's a different story).
As the season has progressed I've found myself drawn to Lewis which has surprised me, but this year I have been impressed with his driving and his maturity and I'm becoming a bit of a fan boy of Lewis.
I really hope that Sunday is an exciting race but that Lewis wins. If Nico wins because of better racing and NOT due to double points I won't be massively upset but trying to explain this to non F1 fans is quite difficult!
Here's hoping its a good race and not boring and not decided by reliability

After some kind of eleventh-hour drama concerning Lewis' car in FP3, Lewis will put it on pole and the race will be an anti-climactic lights to flag victory for Hamilton, Rosberg will come a close and very creditable 2nd.
Pretty much this. [sacrelige]I'm struggling to summon the slightest enthusiasm and will probably only bother watching it recorded if subsequently advised of drama etc. [/sacrelige]

I liked Hamilton's driving all along as he was exciting to watch. Also I never knew what he might do: victory from the jaws of defeat or, too often, the reverse. This season we've seen a different side to him - not before time I suppose. He's maturing. If he keeps this up I could see him being one of the greats.
The move to Merc came at the right time for him I think, but then the good ones always make their own luck I think.
He was always a fast driver but has let his emotions rule his head on track. In comparison, Alonso is a fast driver but has let his emotions rule his head off circuit. One is in a car that is class of the field, the other has, at the moment, no car. And, from a McLaren fan, he's going there, which might be worse.

Never understood how you can not like him. If there is a gap, he goes for it, just an awesome overtaker. Great to watch him hang the ar*e out of the thing as he rockets around the track as well.
Sure, it goes wrong sometimes, but given the moves he makes I think he makes fewer mistakes than many others. He also can push sooo much more than other drivers.
Rosberg also pretty much knows that on track Lewis has the measure of him in terms of getting past. Now the interesting part is if Lewis takes Pole, because Nico HAS to get past, and even if he did, Lewis can just sit behind and take the WDC (not that he will just sit back IMHO, he will push to try to get Nico to make a mistake or go for an overtake if he sees one).
I just hope there is no mechanical issue with either car which decides this. Actually, being realistic, it is only if there is a problem with Lewis' car that the WDC will be changed.

Pretty much how I feel. He's a racer and that's what F1 is all about. Sure, it goes wrong sometimes, but given the moves he makes I think he makes fewer mistakes than many others. He also can push sooo much more than other drivers.
There was a football coach who said you should take every opportunity to score a goal. The fans will forgive you for missing, he'd said, but not for not trying.
As you say, it goes wrong sometimes. But it goes right a lot as well.

I'm hoping Nico tries what Lorenzo did in MotoGP, spend 20 laps backing him into the Williams but remain sporting so if it doesn't work by the first stops clear off into the distance and hope Lewis chases and grenades his engine.
First he needs pole, which won't be easy, and clearing off into the distance won't be easy either!
I'm sure if NR is in front, and can afford to go slow enough to back LH into the pack,LH will simply go past him.First he needs pole, which won't be easy, and clearing off into the distance won't be easy either!

I really don't think Nico has got much choice on Sunday, pole or not. If he gets pole and tries to hold Lewis up for 20 laps then for sure Lewis will mug him and be off, If he tries blocking him then he can only get away with weaving and holding him up for so long before he gets a penalty also.First he needs pole, which won't be easy, and clearing off into the distance won't be easy either!
If he gets pole then the first few laps will be crucial and somehow he will have to get others in the mix whilst holding up Lewis, but not for 20 laps, that wont work. then hope Lewis gets into a scrap and compromises his race.

Exactly. Trying to back Lewis into the pack is a hell of a risk when one of the best overtakers on the track is sat behind you..... And with respect to the other teams to go slowly enough to back Lewis up will leave an awful lot on the table for Lewis to exploit for an overtake..ash73 said:
There are certain parts of the track where he can just park it on the apex, but after the first couple of laps he'll need a reasonable gap when he goes into the DRS zones.
If I got a chance on the first lap I'd be tempted to invite Lewis up the outside somewhere and run him wide, a few other cars might get through. Wouldn't fancy my chances though
Yes, its an option, and I don't think he has too many either. Nico has never been in a situation like this before and I am not to sure he knows how to handle it best. I think Lewis will be too smart for any kind of block, hold up, traffic, etc etc and given half a chance he will blow Nico away at the first opportunity and be off down the road. Reliability will be more of a worry for Lewis for sure.
