Another day, another problem frown
This time it's a problem idle. I always suspected it wasn't right but it didn't feel too bad. Thought I'd check the stepper motor after reading EGB's kangaroo hops post.
I found this,

Taped and glued in place. Before I knew better I thought it was some heat shielding but when I went to it tonight it pretty much came off in my hand.

I see it's just a plate at the back of the plenum so that's what I'm looking for if anyone has any leads. I'll take the full plenum if that's what I can get.

Thanks again.
Colin

You sure it's the housing that's broken and not the stepper? You'd have to be pretty ham fisted to bust one... bow

Yes I'm sure. When I got hold of it it completely separates from the back plate.

If you look at the glue line then that's where it comes away from.

That's the stepper motor that's broken you wazzock biggrin

You'll find the threaded end of it and probably the plunger still in the housing. You'll need to pop the housing off the back of the plenum and dig that mess out on the bench. Shouldn't be too difficult as the steppers are hard plastic bodies, which is why they break when ham fisted clots lean on them wink

Heartily agree. My £13 'chinese' stepper caused the engine to idle at 2000 rpm when cold and at junctions, and hunt up and down all over the place.

Coughing up £90 for a genuine one was well worth it in my experience.
