Seeing that my dad got himself a new car (and I'm waiting to get my license, since I just turned 18 and not much point now since uni in London) thought I'd just share some car history:

First car I remember was a 97 Toyota Camry (yes, I know, 3L V6 though so not the normal minicab) - so uninspiring I can't be bothered to dig up photos. Wonder how I got my love for cars when I started off in this. (I promise this gets more interesting)

Next up, 2001 E53 BMW X5, first one to arrive in Hong Kong apparently! Heard stories about a person going to pick up their new 4.4L one and refusing to let the staff take it out of the lot for him, ended up reversing it into a wall before it had even reached the roadeek Struggling to dig up photos for this, but this lasted a good 9 years in the family.

Then, an E60 LCI 523i, bought with a huge discount but my dad always preferred his SUVs so this only lasted 6 months (excuse 2010 phone camera potato quality):

And then this came:

Excuse the terrible photos - 2004 L322 Range Rover, proper 4.4 V8. Car prices are ridiculous in HK, we had to pay extra on top of selling a 2009 E60 to get this Range Rover. But properly plush car, except stuff just kept on going wrong. Very nice car and the bullbar thing that came fitted helped to make the car look a lot younger than the L322s we see on the roads today. Some more photos:

A second car was added 6 months later for my mum to get to work in:

2010 Mk6 Golf, 1.4 TSI, 160 bhp, good fun and surprisingly quick (as a passenger at least)

On a weekend out cycling

The Golf stayed for 2 years ish, and was swapped for this:

Can't quite leave the BMW family - 2012 F30 328i. Crummy base spec alloys later switched out for Forgestar F14s (excuse the terrible photo)

And in May this year, a new addition:

2007 987 S, Guards Red, extended leather, factory short shifter, Sachs coilovers, very very nice car and my dad's first sports car! Had some good fun in this, including not fitting in at some supercar meets (no shame really, we got there early and the 458 drivers chose to park next to us):

and here's a family photo from 2 weeks ago!

We had been trying to sell on the Range Rover for a bit since the air suspension was always failing on us and moving house meant a 70 mile commute every day which couldn't be done with the RR doing around 14mpg. A dealer finally accepted it as part exchange so heres the new car! (Cayman sadly gone as well, only lasted 6 months but very happy 6 months)

2008 Granturismo S! blah 4.7 V8, world of difference from the 4.2 imho. Sounds amazing with the sport mode engaged, from the little that I've heard so far. Can't wait to be back in HK in Xmas to see this beast for myself!

Thats all for now thanks for reading!

Nice bit of history, like the old plate (ex HK, sitting in LHR on my way back for a wedding)...

Just a question, whaty random bit of the New Territories do you live in to get a 35mile commute?!? That must be one fo the longest I have ever heard of HK - timewise I can imagine it takes ages, used to live in Stanley and Dad drove to Causeway Bay, that could be a good hour+ for about 8 miles...

Sheung shui, which is about 5 minutes drive to r he border! it's dual carriageway all the way though so without traffic it's a 45 minute drive
