Sonos iPod dock

I'm about to buy a sonos system for my house (play5, connect x2 etc) and was thinking of storing my music off my iPad to save space but instead of going down the NAS route, using an iPod classic I have (with massive storage) and an iPod dock that seem to be available on eBay. Will this work? I googled it and found the sonos dock operating manual which mentioned software incompatibility could be a problem why things don't work but assume that's for an old iPhone beg docked rather than an iPod classic.
I could go down the NAS route but I'm a tech numpty and from what I've read it looks really error prone to move ones music from laptop etc to NAS.

I think your right, support for the iPod dock has been discontinued in the latest series of updates.

To be honest why would you want to do this? If you buy before christmas you get 12months of Deezer access free of charge.
