Numb nuts forgot to connect battery conditioner
Discussion
School boy error.
2102 V8V. Completely flat battery. Opened the door with manual key.
Do I :
1. Purchase battery charger and connect to battery behind the seat ?
2. Is it possible to get onto the boot to connect battery conditioner ?
3. Will the battery conditioner work in the centre console cigarette lighter ?
4. Anything else.
Thank you for your help.
Cheers

I had a similar problem earlier in the year when the wife disconnected the BC at the wall and then never plugged it back in again, came home from overseas to a flat battery but was still able to unlock the car. Called Greenflag and they jump started the car. Point to note though when jump starting the car is to switch every electrical item in the car on i.e. lights, radio, heating etc. Not sure why but the GF man told me so!! When my car did start some of the electrical functions were not working properly in particular the seats, but over the day everything started to work again. Hope this helps a bit.

Had the same with a v12v. Could not get in boot. You can't charge via cabin cigarette lighter. Jump leads got us nowhere. Disconnected battery and put charger on but battery was not having it. Totally dead. Was going to replace it with the AM OEM but a Yuasu battery was half the price, and with more amps, and after checking with an AM mechanic fitted it. I think the extra few amps helped it start more quickly, and maybe because the original battery was -obviously- not at its best. The only challenge I had was getting my big frame behind the driver's seat. If your seat is electric you need to connect the new battery to the car terminals so you can move the seat forward. Replacing the battery is NOT straightforward as it is clamped down on its bottom edge lip so it can't just be lifted out. You have to remove the shelf frame then the front carpeted panel to get to it. All this assumes that your v8 is set up like my v12 was. Good luck!2102 V8V. Completely flat battery. It's my understanding that you can charge through the central console on the Vantage (Others have said they always trickle charge using this one, which helps them NOT driving off with it connected through the boot)2102 V8V. Completely flat battery. Opened the door with manual key.

Also I believe there is a connection under the bonnet for jump starting/charging
Hi 3rtt,
I have a 2013 V8V and I attach the battery conditioner in the engine bay. One terminal to the +ve terminal post which is protected via a black plastic flip up plastic cover and attache the -ve to any metal earthed point. It has to be said that I use this to trickle charge the battery not sure if it would be ok for large current or rapid charging flows.
Hope it helps

I'm going to try the charger connected direct to the battery terminal first to see if it can work its 8 stage magic.

Yes it is. If the battery does have to come out, it going to be fun trying to get the carbon electric seat forward enough.

That is where I was heading so good luck with the direct charging!I'm going to try the charger connected direct to the battery terminal first to see if it can work its 8 stage magic.

Just ordered a CTEK MSX 10 charger conditioner. I don't need the car started straight away and hope this will have enough to wake the battery up and help it to full condition.
I don't really want to start pulling the battery out just yet.

I have recently ordered and received the MSX 5.0. Seems like a good bit of a kit, but this morning I had the "Paddle Shifts Disabled" warning light come on which i've come to associate with low voltage on the battery. I'm pretty much convinced the battery is just on it's way out, after 20K miles of mostly short journey's (sub 30mins). I don't really want to start pulling the battery out just yet.

You might like my battery replacement suggestion earlier in the thread Well the CTEK MSX 10 arrived today. Connected this evening to battery and mains power, hit mode button and within a minute the system lit up. Now running stage 4 Absorbtion. I guess it will take a few hours for the charger / conditioner to check all the condition of the battery but pleased it did not come up with error lamp.
So fingers crossed the battery will not need to be replaced.
Will update again soon.

Straight charging on the battery seems optimal and removes any doubt as to whether enough charge is reaching the battery. When I replaced the battery I had issues with seat memories and windows. AM shop did the windows in 10 mins for free. Each seat you have to move to each of its adjustment extremes so it relearns its parameters then you can reset memories, windows I can't recall what he did. Similar? Sorry cannot recall exactly. Fingers crossed and good to get the update So fingers crossed the battery will not need to be replaced.
Will update again soon.
