or put that little lever in park when you have a automatic.
And if someone crashes into you the very expensive gearbox gets fked as well as the boot.I must be the only person on this site who doesn't complain of losing my vision every time someone brakes because I'm dazzled. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.
If your car has an electronic hand brake, it's not really practical to engage and disengage it every time you want to move the car a few feet in traffic. I tend to apply it only when I know the flow of traffic has stopped for a short time.
I'm always aware that I will be dazzling the driver behind if I have to use the foot brake but I don't really have many options.
It's a pointless piece of technology and I'd take a normal hand brake any time.

It doesn't bother me either. People seem to think brake lights get brighter when stopped, or else we'd surely be getting dazzled every time someone used their brakes.Jim AK said:
A forum member told me yesterday that putting car in park freaks out the car behind.
WTF, how does the car behind know your in "P" or "N" with the handbrake on, and how does he know it freaks them out.All these mega bright brake lights these days really piss me off in slow moving traffic, especially when it's dark. More than a few seconds I leave mine in "D" and apply the handbrake. If I am waiting on lights, Imtend to stick it in "P".
As one post said, being in "P" and getting rear ended buggers your box up, happens all the time does that.

I think it's because going from P to D goes through R, illuminating the reversing lights for a moment. All these mega bright brake lights these days really piss me off in slow moving traffic, especially when it's dark. Iv'e never had a problem with using mine, I always put the car in neutral and put on the handbrake if I am going to be stationary for long and as long as I remember to put my foot on the brake before selecting first(it wont select it if I don't), the handbrake automatically disengages as I pull away. Maybe the Maserati has a better system?I'm always aware that I will be dazzling the driver behind if I have to use the foot brake but I don't really have many options.
