I can't find anything in the media about it. Have I missed it in all the hubris around F1?

There hasn't been any announcement, just rumors that they are considering a program.

IMO these rumours are just like the Ferrari to LMP1, Jaguar to build a GT car rumours that come around every year and ultimately disappear.

I understand an announcement will be made in early December. That's why I was assuming it was common knowledge?

Latest info I could find/remember was the DSC article by Marshall Pruet;

so possible GTE or possible P2 engine supply?

About time Ford had a global Motorsport programme; but as already said, it will likely be in GTE, or a P2 engine. And will be US based.
Can't ever see them making the step up to LMP1..... But I wonder how much they spend on Napcar?

since that article was published, Shank racing has ordered a Ligier and the team have Ford backing. The most likely scenario then is a Ford Ecoboost engined Ligier. More interesting is that the team want to come to Le mans.

It will be interesting to see which engine MSR go with. Krohn have gone with Judd (first time in a Ligier) so maybe there could be mutual benefits there if the Ford lump is overlooked.

So a little later than I thought...and they haven't (yet) admitted they'll run the GT in endurance racing.

Going by the comments on Twitter, it looks like a GTE programme will be announced at Le Mans in June. Looks like it will be powered by an EcoBoost engine.
While any new Manufacturer is good news, I'd much prefer to see them go for the headline grabbing LMP1 class - but Ford can't/ or won't splash the cash for it.

I think LM-P1 is already exciting enough, so I think some more competition in the GT categories is a very good thing.

LMP1 with the current and future entrants surely nowruns the risk of becoming a money pit for factory backed efforts spending ever more to try and win, which would be inevitably followed by grids collapsing again.

GTE being basically a customer series should be sustainable for a well managed manufacturer stay competitive long term.

Porsche, Ferrari and Aston and corvette all have works backed cars , cant remember who else races

Audi back GT3's quite heavily i think, just wish they would get with the GTE program!

Or ACO allow GT3's with less restriction instead.

But with Mclaren (still on?) and Ford joing WEC it'll be pretty good!
