Earlier this year our post code in ruralish Peak District was defined as 'coming soon' and that orders could be placed in 6 months. The exchange has been upgraded and some local villages are now up and running. My post code has now reverted to 'under review'. I am struggling to find out why eg are there consent issues for access or have bt decided that my post code / cabinet isn't economically viable. Just wonder how to find out the 'truth'... So far I get fact free responses.

Have you tried posting on http://www.thinkbroadband.com ? They can sometimes get an answer from OpenReach. But if your exchange is enabled, but you are not either the cabinet isn't viable (as you say) or there is some issue with fitting the fibre cabinet.

In my case, they had to get permission to dig up the road to put the cabinet nearer a power source. That took a few months.

There was something along these lines on Watchdog on Thursday about Open Reach. You can now contact Open Reach directly. The Web address is on that episode of Watchdog on iPlayer.

My exchange went live over two years ago. The censored decided that even though I'm less than a mile from their building, in the middle of suburbia, they're not including my cabinet in the roll out programme - if I was a couple of hundred metres up the road I'd be fine. censoredshoot

Gazzab, where are you? I'm in Crich, we have 9 street boxes in the village, numbered for example, 1-9. I'm on box 9. The whole village was due to be done earlier this year, however, it appears some funding from the government (so I'm led to believe), was based on how many villages were enabled, not necessarily completed, so it looks like some places were half done to allow them to do more villages rather than complete ones. They updated boxes 1-8, leaving 9 alone, not due to be upgraded until 2016. Talk about miffed, 3Mbit/s isn't crap compared to some, but by the time we get FTTC in 2016, people with fibre to the home will be far beyond what we'll be able to receive, and no doubt so will the services that people will be expected to be utilising frown

I'm in curbar. The average age is about 80 around here so I suspect it impacts the business case.
I will look at other options eg satellite but as the Ping is slow...

I've just fired an email off to broadband@derbyshire.gov.uk after much trawling to try and find where to address the email to. Might be worth you asking similar questions to get information on what's going on in your area.

We've had exactly the same happen in our area (South Gloucestershire). Local council and BT made a big play at past meetings that FTTC would be deployed this summer. August came and went with no news, we then had some local issues following a lightning strike. One of the engineers that attended happened to mention that although the exchange had been enabled (he was part of the team) the decision had been taken that not all cabinets would be connected.

We raised this back to BT management who stated that although this was the case our cabinet was scheduled for upgrade, however that changed in September and they are now not planning on upgrading it and will give no indication as to when or if it will happen in the future.

The only thing I can suggest is to escalate it back to your local council and also your MP. Apparently there is a new fund, designed to help those rural cabinets that were designated in this round as too rural to be upgraded in the future.

Thanks btw - thats a good ping. Gives me hope that curbar will be ok and maybe even better when using ethernet cables.
And btw I am not a gamer but have teenage boys and so want to ensure it meets their needs.

Apparently contention rates are very good as well.

I thankfully get FTB and am only 100 metres from the exchange. Not bad for sleepy Wirksworth.

75 meg down 21 meg up. Not to rub it in or anything.
