Very close to 'pulling the trigger' on a facelift ST1, Great price on drivethedeal, and pretty close to their price with my local dealer, but pushing to match DtD before I commit...

If there's any keen Ford sales guys reading this and fancy a free hit for a bit of a discount then pm me!

I would try and at least stretch to an ST2 if i was you mate.
Ok its a little bit more expensive(£1500 on list price), but you get half leather, dual climate control, heated windscreen, rain sensing wipers and auto dimming rear view mirror.
You cant even specify privacy glass or cruise control as optional extras on an ST1.

Cheers, see to me those additions don't sound like £1200's worth. I know a bit of the value (negligable) will be retained in the resale value but its still not worthwhile to me. The only options I'd like would be heated screen, seats and premium audio but it would cost me £3500 to get that (plus the other stuff)! On the previous shape the ST1 and ST2 interior differed quite a bit due to the Sony stereo, but thats no longer the case. The big 8" screen is only available on the ST3.

My plan is that it should cost me around £3500-£4000 in depreciation over 2 years, if you start bumping up the options (which will loose more of their value proportionally), then I might as well gone for one of of the golf R lease deals at circa £6500 over 2 years.

Hopefully that goes according to plan and ST's hold their value over other models in the range, because my previous experience was not even close.
Sept 2012 brand new Focus Zetec S 1.6 Ecoboost 182PS - July 2014 buying brand new Focus ST3 and trade in price seen the totally immaculate 8400 mile Zetec S losing 7 grand on its discounted purchase price. Price i received was good because i checked, and dealer advertised selling price only added £900. Predictably it sold very quickly.

Yes i know what you mean about the difference between current ST1 and ST2 regarding the Sony system.
You can get an 8" touchscreen in the facelift ST2, but need to specify Sync 2 DAB Nav system at a cost of £500.
