Just buy a £1000 old Volvo. In many ways it'll be a better car and won't look like a mobile version of a supermarket savers brand.
This. With heated seats.

Out of interest, why both getting a new car for even £6k if you want to treat it like a £500 car?

Genuinely interested, no offence meant
Valid point. I'd prefer nearly new to be honest. Warranty/no rust ( for a few years). Plan to run it into the ground. My mum won't drive a 500 quid shed. But a 15 plate...
Get her something Japanese for £3k and a rubbish private plate.

No private plates!

Looks like I might have to be the first PH. I already have a 1500 quid motor and rust to keep running ta. hehe

If it was going to be a panda it have to be 100hp

Just really appeals as something to run into the ground. Local dealer has only sold one proper basic car.

Got my mate to get one 7 years ago.

Spoke to him earlier. In 75,000 miles he's thrashed it all over Europe, his missus has bumped it and it's been their only car.

It's needed a new battery and a couple of bulbs.

He loves it.

As a romanian, I'd get the Panda.

The base Sandero engine, transmission and suspension will probably outlive the Fiat's, but the interior quality is so bad you'll become annoyed very quickly.

Also, they do tend to develop a rusting habit after about 5 years.

The most common problem I know of is that the driver's seat starts to make funny noises very early it's life, especially if you keep it it's lowest position; which you'll probably be doing because of the high driving position.

The seats are also quite bad for long journeys. The ventilation system is so bad you'll find it hard to see out of the car when it's raining. This is presuming the base model doesn't come with A/C.
