vxr8 stability control off
Discussion
Today I went for a drive and got the car nicely warmed up, then stopped at the shop for about 10 or 15 mins.
When I came out and restarted the engine it spluttered a bit on startup and then the display changed to 'stability control off'.
I turned it off and back on again, but the message was still there. I might have been a bit paranoid then but it could also have been running a little differently afterwards.
Couldn't find anything on the search, anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Mike

Thanks. Its the small belt about half inch wide behind the main one. Does it drive anything else do you know?
Cheers
It's just the air con on this, have just had to replace the pulley with a twin pulley set up ( from a monaro ) didn't get any problems with traction control though it just made a hell of a racket when it came off! Cheers
Not a nice job to do though yourself took me and a mate a good 3 hours to change it! Monkfish stock these though but you will need a longer belt but roger/Andy will know that anyway.
Maybe the belt got jammed somewhere and caused the issue?
The belt seems to have grooves on both sides, and a bit of a twist on it, looks like it might have turned over or was fitted incorrectly. Also I think that's a tensioner in the photo, looks rusty though... wonder if something seized.
On the plus side, car is now running normally just without air con. Nothing else appears to have been damaged, touch wood!

I'm hoping to get this done under warranty, seeing as the belt didn't wear out, either it wasn't fitted properly or something seized to throw it off. maybe I can wrangle the twin pulley set up out of it. Yeah maybe the belt hit something or got jammed. Hoping it's not caused any other issues.
yeah I know what you're saying but it's worth a go.
Not sure why the tensioner appears rusty in the photo?
I'd say it was either incorrectly fitted or the air con pump or clutch could have seized, there is a definite twist in the belt and ridges along the side that's normally flat. if the belt had shredded then thats wear and tear but just starting the engine shouldn't throw the belt off?
