Garmin Digital Traffic - A329(M)
Discussion
I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 3958 LMT-D. This has lifetime maps and their "new" Digital Traffic system which is apparently driven by Traffic Master who claim to cover all the major dual carriageways and motorways in the UK. Well, I think that is a load of TOSH.
For the last month, not one single time has it warned or re-routed me along the stretch of road from the Twin Bridges Roundabout in Bracknell to the Winnersh Triangle turn off the A329(M). Here's the section on Google maps --> https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/51.4132174,-0.76...
I have reported this to Garmin but so far I've had back the usual responses (firmware and map upgrades, check its all plugged in correctly blah blah blah).
Is anyone else using the Digital Traffic system on a newish Garmin and experiencing the same trouble?

Sat navs don't beat local knowledge ever. Never used my Garmin traffic because of it being rubbish (old 2595 here) and use TomTom these days and I ignore their traffic suggestions as well since I feel they're mostly out of date.
But I drive less than most and tend to avoid traffic most of the time (no commute by car or anything).

Is there a quicker route available?
I ask because, unlike my old Garmin, my new one does not show a coloured circle for traffic hold ups. Tragic has to be selected to be visible and I have noticed that even if it detects traffic, if there is no quicker route it does not inform me of the trfaffic, it just adjusts the arrival time.

Yes. I have a 2XXX LMT-D version - about a year old and the digital traffic (power cable) on dual carriageways and motorways is crap, even worse than the traffic updates on the radio. Disappointed as the lifetime suscription was a USP that made me choose it.
As an experiment I purchased a 12 months live traffic suscription (phone app connects to sat nav via bluetooth) and this was a lot more accurate.
I don't get why this is and what exactly the difference is between Garmin's digital traffic and live traffic and why they give me the facility to choose - it's just mind boggling.
Tempted to just get a phone cradle and use co-pilot - seems to get good feedback on the traffic front.

Hmmm, I have a 2548LMT-D and I haven't yet felt that the traffic advice has let me down: it does however suffer from the same algorithmic cock-up as my earlier Nuvi 255 in that it will insist on taking me through town centres regardless of what routing options I select.
I still prefer either to the TomTom I used in Canada.
