I'd be very grateful for PH'ers initial thoughts on the vehicle advertised here;

Rare to find one with such low mileage but an early car with the issues they had. £1k too expensive IMHO.

There is plenty of info out there, but the common ones are electronic throttle module problems (google Volvo ETM), instrument cluster failure and generally more electrical gremlins. The non turbo cars are also much slower than the turbos but offer much the same fuel economy, when they were new they made sense because the purchase price was so much lower but 2nd hand they need to be banger money or not at all. The 200bhp 2.5 low pressure turbo is a really nice car with lots of low down torque.

You're spending quite a bit of money for an old V70 there, I'd be looking for a 2004 model year on (so late 2003 onwards) car as they had a mechanical facelift and fixed a fair few problems. You can recognize these cars as the wing mirrors are smaller and hinge from the bottom and the dials have a silver ring around each of them.

Don't be scared of higher mileage either, particularly with a manual.
