Yes, Mr Hinchy's car. It's been discussed here before, and I'm surprised it hasn't been bought already. Maybe because it's in Ireland?

Usually light commercial - with the added bonus of cheap tax as a commercial with an engine over 1600cc. Nothing like getting your money's worth. wink

Anyone else seen the black Maloo with Pontiac front for sale on PH? 2010 vehicle for £28k in London.

Wheels and Pontiac front have ruined it...

This ute really did come up a bit too late, love the power I have now but still not sold on the vxr8 that surrounds it, to me this ute would have been the ultimate answer to my problem before, gutted!

Reason...

LG would be a goods vehicle, and hence subject to speed restrictions.

ie is it classed as a car derived van with GVW of less than 2000kgs ?

If not, then it would have restricted limits of 50mph on single carriageway, 60mph on a dual, and normal 70mph on a motorway.

I did wonder about this, as pickups fall into the same category, whereas a full Jeep/SUV does not.

Car derived van.

BTW, a friend managed to get off a speeding ticket in his Sprinter, as his legal council argues that the Sprinter had over 51% of parts common with an E Class Merc at the time. smile

Yes but it needs to be a car derived van with a GVW of less than 2000kgs. A bare unladen Monaro is 1700kgs, so I imagine the GVW of a Ute will be well above 2000kgs given a very heavy base vehicle plus potential payload.

Speed restrictions are based on GVW, not actual or unladen weight....whish is daft.

This rule is mental, especially as a lot of vans now have an equivalent people carrier which doesnt have the same restrictions.

Maloo is 350kgs. Ute is 750kgs. The Maloo is a lifestyle vehicle rather than a work truck.

Thanks Ian,
Shame about the weights... Was hoping to have a good excuse for acquisition of one in 2015, but 350kg is just unpractical, so might stay with the Hilux on that.

Currently, traveling through Queensland and half of the cars are Utes of all sorts.

Also, totally hooked on E3 GTS... Due to no stock in the UK, is importing a feasible option at all? Seen someting like a 2012 E3 GTS with Cam and S/C and other surrounding mods for likes of 49k AUD. Would it be more than £30k landed and taxed?

Yes. $49k is £27k, That works out as £36K before you take shipping and IVA into account - probably the best part of another £10k.

If that's what you want, I think that James at Elite may be selling his in the new year. wink

Thanks Ian,
I am really heart set on black manual and I know of one parking near my peojwct site in Fulham. Other than that, no choice methinks, hence thoughts of importing, but at that rate it is way too much money, coming close to Gen-F territory.
