Or a GTV! For me it's no contest, the Alfa V6 is one of the best-sounding engines at any price.
The stock exhausts on my GT and a 156 GTA I drove are much better than the GTV I had. Easily solved though.

Buy this and use the change to fit equal length headers. You could also try http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-Mercedes-Benz-SL600...

Sound like a Zonda for under £10k: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5ZIomet8Yk
Blimey. Something about that is very weird... that sound coming from that car.

Lovely noise though.

A naturally aspirated 20b RX7 with some big ports sold for just under 10k a month or so ago.

You can get a bridge ported 13b RX7 for less than 10k.

...ohhhh low maintenance wink

Sit inside one and the exhaust is barely audible. Definitely don't buy a JCW for the exhaust note.
Yeah you aren't wrong, scrap that. Some other good suggestions though.

MINI GP with a Janspeed manifold and a Milltek catback - should just scrape in under 10 grand if you do some bargaining/shop around:

Nope, sounds distinctly average.

Given that it is my car, I can assure you it doesn't. But thanks anyway.

R32 in standard guise sounds fantastic, not many cars have such an addictive noise (and turn heads even in standard form) for the money.

E46 M3 sound great if you like the metallic sound they throw out!

Older Boxter? or as mentioned any Alfa V6. Random, but X5's in any of the V8 forms sound fantastic too.

E60 M5, E46 M3 and Honda S2000 all make some very enjoyable noises with properly engineered and well-fitted exhausts.

I've been told a car in stationary traffic at the end of a tunnel once thought my Honda S2000 with full stainless exhaust (ceramic coated) sounded akin to a Lamborghini. They were shocked when my cheap sports car appeared next to them (read incredibly disappointed).

A lot of the good noise is induction rather than exhaust.

Agreed! Can get that Busso tune for less than 2k as well! Bought an E46 M3 which in all performance departments is better but still miss the sound of my lowly 156 V6 :..(

Any Mercedes 55 AMG sounds really good too. Better than any other German V8 IMHO (Porsche 918 excluded but that is out of budget anyway)

Oops momentarily forgot about the purpose built 6.2 litre fitted into the 63 AMG's but I think that a C63 is out of budget.
