I've spoken very nicely to Santa and I am hoping for a new body in my Christmas Stocking - but which one?

I have a Canon 6D and fancy something smaller (to go with it rather than replace it) - I was originally looking at a 650D (on the basis that the 700D doesn't offer much more) but now the 100D has come onto my radar - it it teeny and seemingly should take pics just as well as a 650/700.

Any thoughts/wisdom to help me decide would be appreciated - TIA smile

I'm assuming you've discounted a foray into the world of mirror less with an EOS M?

I like mine and if I had a full size DSLR for when I need superfast AF I'd be happy.

The M takes lovely images....much the same as the 100d and 650d as it's the same sensor as far as I know.

It'd be something 'new' to try! And it fits in your pocket!!

My M is a really useful piece of kit for travelling. I was in Copenhagen last week, had the 5D3 and lenses with me for proper photography forays, but the little EOS M and kit lens came out with me when I was travelling light, out for a meal etc.

Does it need to have interchangeable lenses, or would something like an RX100 fit the bill?

Thanks for the replies Gents smile I think I am leaning towards a crop SLR body as part of my 'reasoning' (I use the term in the loosest possible sense) is to get some extra reach for wildlife photography (I have an f5.6 400 prime but it's really not long enough on ff). Mrs DD has an S100 which I can use for something truly pocketable.

I do have crazy notions about maybe selling up my FF body completely and downsizing the whole lot (I probably won't) but if I do I think I would like the tilting screen from the 650D. Even though the 100D is very tempting, I just think it might be a wee bit small for some of my lenses.

We live in odd times. Once people wanted bigger and bigger cameras, now they want smaller and smaller ones!

Proper cameras are at least 6" cubed and have lots of knobbly bits and levers!

This is my proper camera

But try taking that out for a meal (with sturdy tripod, darkcloth, loupe etc) with your girlfriend on holiday and you'll soon realise why I went for a little EOS M to accompany it hehe

There's many a time I am out digging a massive snowman when I've forgotten my shirt and I think damn those paps, why can't I get some privacy.

Well Santa has been persuaded to buy me a 100D biggrin

I took it out of the box for a brief test and by heck it is teeny!

Next issue - what lens to stick on it though scratchchin Want a wide to medium zoom - quite tempted by the 17-55 f2.8, any other suggestions? (or do I just be boring/sensible and stick my 16-35 f4L on it).

Need some wisdom chaps - help please smile

That 24mm pancake is a good shout - reviews well and cheap as chips! Wonder if could cope with a prime though ... scratchchin
