Nearly 3.5 years with the Spyder, totally reliable apart from a sticky horn push, but it's now almost at an end.
A throw-away comment has produced a fair number of enquiries with what looks to be a sale hopefully over the weekend.

I've enjoyed it, to a point, but I'm getting to the age where I need something a little less - shall we say - ostentatious..?

So, onwards we go to the next vehicle.

I might be tempting fate, but I have unfinished business with Lotus (if I can still get in one smile )

Other than that, there really is nothing out there, within budget, that really tickles me.
If I don't find anything I'll just go without until something pops up.

(I've found a few Lotus of choice, but the deals need to be right...)

Get a grip man, it's got to be a Cayman R, accept nothing less. biggrin

But seriously Zippy, get a test drive in a 1M, I sold my first one because I fell out of love with the colour (Valencia) and the second one due to needing the monies out of it for a project. But they were superb cars, a hoot to drive, practical (until I fitted some proper seats in it, see below) quick, and their performance was so easily accessible.

With such limited numbers you shouldn't lose your shirt either.

I had a drive in one last Christmas - I enjoyed it, but I feel it too similar to the M3 we have now.
I want something a bit more of an event.... something that makes me look back when I've parked up.... something that I'll struggle to get into and out of....

biggrin

(And £40k plus for a 4 year old 1M...! yikes )

Ah, I didn't realise you'd gone for an M3. The reviews seem to be very mixed, actually more lukewarm than mixed.....
They have some similarities, but the 1M is soo much more fun to drive, in fact I'd say the 1M is everything the M3 isn't !
Great steering, and a really fun chassis to name but two. Worthwhile doing a back to back now you've spent some time in the M3 ? My guess is it'll show up (very starkly) what the M3 lacks in terms of fun and "chuckability".

Fit my seats in the 1M and I think you'll find it more than awkward enough to get in and out of biggrin

£40k and four years old, kind of says it all really ......

The M3 is a daily for the wife - and I really actually like it, supposed crap noise / crap steering et al.

But yes, £40k and 4 years old - I'm kicking myself I shunned a decent deal on a new 1M 3.5 years ago and ended up with a Spyder!
Like you and your 964RS biggrin

Just something about Lotus - perhaps I have a penchant for the aroma of pi$$ and plastic - I think the lure is strong on this one....

I had thought about an Atom or 340R, but that's just taking it too far.

211 is better ;-)

340R you have to take the whole shell off to do any thing then it has Head gasket fail lol, on the plus side a new engine off the scrap yard is £300

driven most things (every Lotus I would say inc. both Honda NA and SC cars S1 and S2 and of course owned 2 x Lotus's:-) owned most sports car sub 40k

I think Zpy is after the lardy new V6 Exige I fear lol driven that 3 times also, but it lacks that some thing.

Only Lotus I would own is a 260 CUP late model with newer wing design, or the CUP V6 exige if they drop a bit more. (not driven a CUP V6 mind you)
