I have purchased a plenum with a 400 badge on it, will this fit my 500? I was going to powder coat it and swap them over

The 400 plenum is far more superior than the 500, better quality casting, you will notice the differnce straight away over the lads 500 plenum, they will get jealous of you nowsmile

Aye they're all 65mm butterfly and much of a muchness. FWIW i saw restriction with the standard plenum at around 260bhp, so it's worth upgrading to a 71mm plenum .
.....requiring a re-map? ...or not? And if your engine is more powerful than a standard 500, then why not upgrade the AFM and the injectors too? Then it most definitely will need a re-map. I suggest that the OP plans carefully before upgrading induction items, or he will be forever getting the car remapped after each upgrade - which can be quite an expensive business.

Shirley a standard 500 engine will run happily on a standard plenum?

Ive never seen an differences in plenums (?)the basic casting is the same as the trumpet base is identical- A machined bigger butterfly will make the pickup seem better as you simply let in more air for the given throttle pedal movement, although as already stated the AFM is the bottle neck long before you outflow the plenum inlet.

Powder coat? Easy way out! tongue out

I've got a spare 500 badge if you need it once you're done.
