Hi all,
Does anyone have or has anyone used a soundbase like the link below? Are they any good?

Due to the shape of the room and were the TV is position a sound bar is not workable and we don’t want a full on surround system.

I have both of the Canton units and am very impressed with how they sound, look and their usability. The DM 50 is wonderful and delivers a full on sound from a compact unit. Excellent for spoken word, music and special effects when watching the big films. Cannot comment upon other sound bases.
I use a sound base and to be honest the sound mine generates is fantastic. I have the LG sound plate. It has twin sub's underneath that fire downwards with ports that exit the sides. The unit also has 2 front speakers and a speaker at each side. I'm not sure about the reviews on the john lewis site as mine sounds fine. Its fairly minimalist in design and operation with a single optical input and blue tooth so you can listen to music via you phone should you wish.
Obviously its not true 5.1 surround sound but what is does is give you a big meaty sound for 200 quid that is light years ahead of TV speakers. I watched the new tron movie on blue ray and the sound especially the bass was stunning. Its one of those pieces of equipment that makes you want to watch your movie collection again. That's the reason I recommend it.
