Having an extension built at home and intending to put a large TV on one wall.

Not sure what height to mount it so it looks right and is comfortable to view. Appreciate that this is largely subjective but would be grateful to hear if there's any accepted best practice or works of wisdom.

Room measures 4.5m x 5m.

TV will be mounted middway along shorter wall.

Ceiling height is strandard 240cn.

TV will be a 55" flat panal measuring 124 x 72 cm.

TV will be viewed either from a standing position or seated on a sofa approx 4.5m directly in front on TV.

Grateful for any advice.

Level with your eyes when you're sitting down. Don't put it too high as you'll just get a pain in the neck.

Hornetrider spot on. Centre of screen should be at eye height from your sofa position

I actually took the photo due to how wonky/offset it was, but this topic reminded me off it.

I'll cross post it in the other thread!

I've just mounted 1 so the bottom of the TV was 70cm off the floor. Perfect height when sat slouched on the sofa.
42 inch - soon to be upgraded where it will also sit 70cm off the floor.

You'd need a neck brace on to watch that (and a wonky one to boot)

While I agree on previous comments and also dislike teles mounted too high I do feel you can go slightly higher as you'll likely be leaning back slightly when sat on the couch. I'd say my eye level is about a quarter of the way up my 42" TV or the bottom is level with my eyes of I slouch on the Sofa. Seems the perfect height to me.

Forgive the crappy picture taken on my tablet.

Spent last weekend chasing in cables for new TV and AV gear, and as part of this, spent about an hour figuring out where the TV should be mounted.

Agree with previous comments - centre of screen should be at eye level when sat down, and better to look down on it than up. My wife was somewhat bemused with me asking her to sit down so I could measure how far her eyes were from the floor.

Just managed to get the TV in a Black Friday deal as well - winner!
