Evening all

I completed the course and passed my test on a counterbalance today(reach booked for Jan).Overall I thought it was a good pass except for a stupid mistake when I bumped the mast against the racking. The mast was within 5mm of the beam so very little distance and I was being gentle with the throttle. The instructor didnt see it and I genuinely did not know this.Although annoyed at myself I didnt think it was that bad and have honestly learned from it.Prior to the test the instructor told us if we knocked down any of the pallets arranged on the course it would be a fail.

So the instructor leaves and the sales director (who could be next in line for MD) walks into the warehouse and says to me you jammy bd.He continues you were so lucky he wasnt looking when you did that. Was it bad says I, yes he says the racking moved. So you think that would have been a fail I said. You heard what the instructor said about knocking down the pallets he said and that would definitely have knocked a pallet over.Another colleague also present who witnessed it said he didnt see the racking move and then admitted he had accidentally done the same once or twice without any issue so didnt know what the problem was.

To be honest folks im now thinking what an asshole for coming in and telling me this and the test I had just passed should have been null & void and that I am not safe to drive.

So feeling a little deflated even though there is a very good chance I am being a big girls blouse.Having said this if it was me I dont think I would have said anything or if I did I would not have made it seem as if the operator was a failure.I am considering telling the powers that be that either they consider me safe or if not I retake the test or dont operate the fork lift.

Sorry to dump on you all and thanks for reading

I wouldn't worry about it. I used to drive FLT 10 years ago at a well known cash and carry warehouse and to be honest the racking should be able to withstand a nudge without moving, hell ive seen someone reverse a forklift into a racing post and the FLT came off worse. (although some of the idiots i did work with and that drove FLT would have to be seen to be believed!)
