We are starting to fit out our en suites, but are struggling to find any recommendations for shower enclosures in terms of both manufacturers and retailers.

We are after (all stone resin trays):

1 x 1200x900 recessed with sliding door

1 x 1400-1600 x 900 walk in shower.

Budget wise, I'd like to keep it around £400-£800 per enclosure if possible, so nothing top end.

We've been to Bathstore, but not overly keen on using them.

So yes, any recommendations would be much appreciated!

(We're in Derbys.)

Keep an eye on eBay… Picked up lots of damaged box bits when we did our bathrooms. Managed to get some really good stuff for peanuts. Including £900s worth of simpsons shower screen for £100 even worth paying £65 to have it shipped had way round the country.

Good luck.

There is some really poor quality stuff out there. I've been looking to update our bathroom and April enclosures look good quality. Best price I have seen for the one I'm after is online at Ergonomic Designs.

I ordered my Lakes Nice 900 walk in enclosure online from Showers to You, it was just under £300.

Sadly, it is still in my garage because I'm a complete idiot and took the height for granted - all of the shower enclosures I'd looked at were the same height - 2m. My bathroom ceiling is lower than 2m. Not their fault, and it had been packed in my bathroom for 6 months. frown

I ended up finding a local supplier in Halesowen who found a replacement for £130 which was short enough to fit in my hobbit-sized bathroom. Bit of a trek for you from Derby, but well worth a call - they were *really* helpful and knowledgable. http://thebathroomshophalesowen.co.uk/ (don't be put off by the website, they mostly supply to a large group of local plumbers but do sell to the general public too though they're not very shiny and polished!)

Roman http://www.roman-showers.com/shower-enclosures/lum... is a very nice slider.

Kudos walkin good prices (make sure is a good tray!)

Dont buy stuff you can not get spare parts for. Both of those will be around for a good long wile and will sort out any probs you have. So go and support your local bathroom indi smile

I used fountain direct for my stuff, after a client recommended them. Seemed like a good price and I think the service was ok.

I'd always buy this kind of stuff of the internet.

/no affiliation or anything.

Ebay

Find the nearest cheap retailers and VISIT them - the quality varies tremendously

Buy in person, in cash as much from one retailer as possible.

I'm lucky that I live near B'ham - I've found the independently owned Asian stores cannot be beaten on price nor their willingness to get a deal done.

Thanks for the replies and links chaps.

There does seem to be a lot of rubbish out there (mainly on ebay), so do want to look before I buy.

Coincidently, been looking at a Roman walk in shower on ebay and it's just up the road from me, so might take a trip up there tomorrow and have a look (new in box, but private seller).

Steve W - your pm doesn't seem to have arrived unfortunately...is there any chance in resending please?

Hi Woody - have tried again.

It says it's also sent a copy to me but I don't see it in my e-mail so I wonder if something's screwy with the PM system?

Cheers,
Steve

You could try local trade suppliers such as Plumbase/Grahams/Plumbcentre etc. they often have specials offers on and some will have displays/showrooms.

Good call, Build / Plumbase often offer bigger discounts on their own brand shower cubicles, sold as Vivid , these are rebranded Merlyn units and are very good and offer very good value for money.

This is the shower enclosure I got when I refitted our en-suite earlier this year.
The unusual size only gave me a choice of two manufacturers, and I'm glad I went for the pricier Eastbrook option. I've been very pleased with it; nice and solid feeling, smooth running doors, easy to put together, and most importantly no leaks at all.
Looks like there is plenty of choice of styles and sizes too:

I can also recommend Showermania as a supplier - the enclosure arrived quickly with no damage, and the price was the lowest I found.

I can recommend City Plumbing Supplies, if you have one near. I always send my customers there as they have a showroom with dedicated staff.

These lot were first class, have used them on multiple bathrooms, 45% discount on ideal standard is about as good as it gets - http://www.doblebathroomsdirect.com

These lot are also excellent - http://www.ukbathrooms.com

Somebody mentioned an Eastbrook enclosure above, they are ok ish. We just finished refitting 2 bathrooms and one used an Eastbrook and the other a Simpsons screen, the simpsons one is better.

Above all else avoid a company in leicester which begins with Q - notoriously bad from my experience. Nothing in stock, appalling after sales...
