Sorry guys, i KNOW this has probobly be done to death, but I just bumped into a mate who offered me his '52 plate Clio 172 for £300. Only catch is someone has knocked the drivers door mirror off and scratched the drivers door, but I can sort that easily. It's just he bought it on a whim 2 years ago as a cheap third car, and has just tooled around in it at weekends. It is very very clean ( dark metallic blue ) and he had meticulously ploished and cleaned it, but never had it it serviced apatr from one oil change. He doesnt know if it has had a cambelt or dephaser, I am assuming the worst and it needs them asap. How much am I looking at? At anywhere good to do it the SE London or Kent / Surrey? Thanks.

Probably looking at 4-500 quid to get the job done properly with dephaser but at 300 quid to buy you should be able to account for that!
Mike woodford motorsport is in the chertsey area, knows a lot about these, took over business from a mate of mine, and is probably the guy to go for. If you struggle finding him on google I can put you in touch.
Hope this helps

If you do it yourself, £350-odd. Add appropriate labour on top if you pay a garage, probably another £200 minimum.

If you dont buy it PM me, I might have it smile

I bought it..... I kid you not £200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He just did not want it, sad really as he was disheartened but my gain, someone else would have got it if not me.

Even better, ebay turned up a correct replacement blue door, blue door mrror, side skirt ( old one cracked ) and new parcel shelf with no holes in £90 delivered!

So, should have a very tidy car for £300
