I clicked on this topic ready to write The Old Orchard! Another good one is the King William in Ipsden, pretty small pub but nice views of the rolling hills.

I've been to a couple by Hamble on the coast and the Cove House Inn at Portland is a nice setting. You did say wherever!

Great thread, giving me some good ideas where to go for lunch or dinner with my wife.
I'll try to contribute in a moment...

In fact here's one. The Five Horseshoes, Maidsensgrove, near Henley http://www.thefivehorseshoes.co.uk/

Wonderful little Brakspears pub that serves good food and has great views of Stoner Valley in the Chilterns usually with red kites soaring above.

Here's a picture of the view

The Three Horshoes at Elsted (between Petersfield and Midhurst), has great views from large garden. Small old pub with beer in barrels chocked behind bar, great simple food. Remember your labrador and waxproof jacket.

Or for the more discerning palate http://theearlofmarch.com/ near, er, Goodwood is v nice to, but not with the middle of the countryside feeling the Horseshoes has.

The 5 Horsehshoes in Maidensgrove, near Henley, is pretty special. It overlooks a valley at the bottom of the CHilterns, good, but expensive grub though.

I nominate The Duke of Cumberland Arms near Fernhurst, West Sussex. Magnificent views, superb food, and handy for Fernhurst TVR.

The Tattenham Corner, at (surprisingly) Tattenham Corner has a decent view (Epsom downs one way & London cityscape the other) just a shame the pub itself is a rubbish Beefeater, Derby Arms is a bit better but the view is worse.

There's a pub in Shaftesbury that I can't recall the name, its near Gold's Hill, that has a pretty good view.

The Mayfly, which is on the outskirts of Andover.

It has a peninsular with a stream on oneside and a river on the other, so you have water on both sides of you (the peninsular is only wide enough for one table and long enough for about 10)

There is a weir so you get the lovely calm water, some powerfull surging water and the sound of running water too.

The Green Man, Offley (between Hitchen and Luton - fear not the views are away from Luton) has a big beer garden and commanding views.

Not been there for several years though, so can't comment on the rest of pub.
