Hi Dave,

you`ll find all you need to run the system on the engine harness together with the sensor inputs from the factory harness. Almost all engine harnesses come with an OBD2 plug as it`s required in many countries to pass the emission test. If your supplier uses the GM E38 ECU you should also see the OBD2 plug.

I normally only use 1 wire from the engine harness which is the RPM signal. You`ll get all the other readings from the standard factory one.

Update - info to help others with a AIM MXL2 dash

I had to change the ecu to “Opel – Astra OPC” in the race studio 3 software as instructed by AIM UK, initially it still didn’t work!, the firmware on the dash needed updating to the to the most up to date version, which is “Firmware ver. 01.06.04”, my dash had an older version, which seemed to be stopping it from working, as soon as I updated the firmware on the dash, everything started working, one small niggle tho, the oil pressure isn’t been displayed correctly, so there going try write a update file to solve the issue, they think it’s just a simple communication thing, needs different protocol to read info from the oil pressure sender

Hi Guys, I am facing a similar problem with my LS3, E38 and AIM MSX Strada 1.2

I have tried EVERY conceivable ECU option including Covette, GM, Delphi, Opel, OBD_II and the sub options inside them but with no luck. Frank at AIM has tried to sort it, Steve Randle from the factory support dialled in to try and sort it but with no luck.

The factory has sent a 2nd AIM unit and wiring and a second E38 ECU but that has no joy.

I have a HP Tuner dongle that plugs into the OBD2 port and that sees all the information from the ECU such as RPM, TPS etc quite happily and so I do not believe it is an issue with the engine loom provided by AS (as was the ECU originally) but the AIM unit refuses to even acknowledge it is there.

Any suggestions? I really am losing the will to live with this one as it has been 5 weeks of frustration :-(

Welcome any thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Lee
