Just received an email from Maggiore hire car company saying they will be taking 37 Euros for a fine.

I called them and they said you can check the fine online on a Multa Contravention website. They said you can enter the rental details and see your details.

Does anyone know the site as I have tried searching but have been unable to find it?

Thanks.

If they debit your card inform your card provider that there has been an un-authorised transaction by the hire company (providing you genuinely didn't incur the penalty of course!).
Cheers, Pewe.

This sounds dodgy to me. First of all, the cheapest fine in Italy is €38 (http://www.portaldiritto.com/tariffe-multe.htm) and this is for a minor parking offence or the like. On top of that, when you pay it there is a commission of a couple of euros from the bank/post office. Secondly, car rental companies always add a handling fee that is usually higher than the fine. This must be a scam.

Well I spoke to the Italian Authorities and it was for driving in a bus lane. I do remember it so just paid it.

Also got a letter last week about being caught speeding near Florence which is something like 148 euros. I was caught on the 9th of September. I thought they have 6 months to send out fines but maybe now?

Turning into expensive hire this Fiat Panda!!
