I had an 8 valve GTI back in the day, there was never too much difference on the road between it and my friends 16 valve Jetta. Oh and more doors for more wes!

I had experience of both, and preferred the 8v. Could never put my finger on it really, seemed to have more character about it.

Pretty looking things. If they're rust-free, could be a lot of fun, with a road-trip thrown in for extra complexity.

Kinell! That included the "VIA 205" plate (surely worth well over £1000).

I've only just discovered this thread & I'm liking it already! Always had an inkling for these unloved barges.

By the looks of things, you'll have over £4k to spend on fuel, giving it some love.
