A bit over budget.
Not as common as the Monza.
I have a funny feeling that car has been for sale on and off for a few years now

That is what the Monaro evolved from.

not sure about the wheels.I think a nice set of cross spokes would look nicer.

Oof. For someone who doesn't like white cars, I'm loving that (allowing for a wheel-swap wink ).

Oof indeed! I love the wheels too.

If it's still for sale in six months I might be able to consider it.

Sadly I doubt it'll be for sale for long.

Surely this has got to be bargain of the century?! Only £1,495?! Looks very original too, check out the radio in the interior photo!

I love that merc...

Seriously, could that be used as a daily? What are the likely break down issues with them - I'm guessing mainly overheating and gearbox issues?

The 3.8 M116 engine is a solid one and you won't face any serious issues. Parts are cheap and freely available at breakers.

The gearbox is also very hardy and I wouldn't expect any grief for a very long time given it's mileage.

It would probably be the most reliable car you've ever owned but it will drink the juice whilst doing so.

Thirst is relative according to wqftability. And it would be more than offset by how cheap tyres etc are for it. I'd imagine a full set could be had for the same money as a single 19" tyre on my current daily. I'd prefer MBTex but velour is just fine.

I love an old Merc, and I love Brown velour. I've just confirmed that it's been cross-posted into the 1-5 Barge thread because it'll go down well there too, and there are fans of the taxi-colour scheme over there.

Great spot.

It'll be a bd to park though. It looks like it's about half a mile long.

that's all part of the fun though! Good drivers shouldn't need parking sensors!

And anything you hit will come off worse. Buildings included.

I really really like it. Swap the hub caps for the slightly older SEL type (body colour/chrome) and I would love to drive around the country in that.

Is it a trick of perspective or is it as long as that house is wide?

Definitely perspective, the w126 isn't that big compared to modern day cars, swb version 4,995mm (196.7in) long the lwb version 5,135mm (202.2in). the 2014 mondeo saloon is 4871 mm long.

There's a link to Father Ted somewhere that explains that.
