Hi all,

I have a medical appointment in Harley Street in a weeks time (Sunday 10am).

I live in Cornwall

I am driving to London but I am not sure of the best way to get to HS? I can either drive all the way in and use one of the 2 Q-Parks, or I can drive in and park elsewhere and get a taxi or Uber if I set up an account, but no idea how much this will cost? Or I can get the Subway which I hate using due to pickpockets and being crammed in next to people.

Any ideas please? How busy will the centre of London and traffic from the M4/A4 to Harley Street be at 10am?

Also it is a 5 hour appointment so I will be leaving London at 3pm, can I expect to get stuck in traffic during 5pm rush hour on a Sunday?

Thank you!

Whilst I live on the East side of London and drive all over London on a daily basis and would generally go by car to that location at that time of the day - but at least couple of hours earlier - it will be uncertain if you'll find it easy. This time of year the area will be heavy with shoppers - on street parking will be problematic for all those hours - you won't be able to predict things like road works or last minute parking restrictions. It will be difficult guaranteeing getting a space in Park Lane underground car park. Driving to an outer tube station may be far less stressful for you. Perhaps somewhere like Stanmore on the Jubilee Line to Bond Street for Harley St? (after checking out parking on Sundays adjacent to station & timetable)

As you're going to have to set off at silly-o-clock from Cornwall, I'd drive straight there, if you're early put your feet up and have a snooze it the car. Heading in at 8-9.30 on a Sunday morning shouldn't be too much trouble. Most shops don't open till midday, so roads don't normally get busy till a bit later on. Parking on single yellows and pay and display/ pay by phone bays should be free, this includes on Harley St itself, unless you particularly want to put it in a car park, there is one nearby in Cavendish Sq.
You can expect a bit of traffic heading back out about 3pm, but wont be as bad as 5-6pm.

No problems with traffic either way. yes with Christmas shopping in full swing there will be people but most won't drive or park near Harley St and secondly many won't be going home at the time you are. I would come along the M40 / A 40, over the Paddington Flyover, right into Baker St, left into Paddington St and then snake around 600 m to Harley St. My neck of the woods. Any issues PM me....and drive safely.

This is what I would do.
Drive on Saturday.
1. Take the M5 & then M4 route to Heathrow Airport.
2. Stay at a Heathrow airport hotel, with parking. Leave car.
3. Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington (15mins)
4. Taxi from Paddington to Harley Street (1.9 miles)

Driving in London used to be ok.. now its just a bloody nightmare/ fixed penalty obstacle course.. even on Sunday.

You need to arrive unflustered.. so this route is probably the most chilled one..
Cheers and best of luck

This, or get a train to Paddington and then tube a couple of stops (it won't be busy or crime riddled on a Sunday morning). In fact it's not a long walk from Paddington to Harley Street if the weathers' fine.

Has anyone used the Harley Street Q-Park, does it have an entrance/exit on the HS side or do you have to walk out of the in-ramp and all the way round?

all the pay and display parking and yellow lines around harley street will be free on a sunday, I wouldn't pay for parking.

edit: haven't you had your appointment already?

Thanks all for the help.

All went swimmingly. The parking spots outside were not free on Sundays according to the machines?

Anyway everything went well except the machine did not accept the bar code they emailed me, and there were no members of staff available at the carpark, it said to press a blue button for help and there was no blue button.

Therefore I had to pay for 24hr of parking at the machine on my card as well as having already paid for it in advance.

They say if you book online you get a discount but it was the same price, also on the machines it said scan your bar code in for a discount on your payment even though I had paid for the whole parking fee already?

So it cost me nearly £80 to park for 6 hours. Lovely.

BTW glad I went early, the google maps satnav on my iphone 4s took me to the general area (the park) but would not get me to harley street, it kept redirecting me to drive up one way streets and as I followed their direction to "get round the back" it would not re-route me. Supposed to be accurate to within 5m more like 4 blocks!
